missmore i certainly am not naive......i have served in northern ireland with the staffordshire regiment i was 18 at the time.have you ever seen the aftermath of a bomb?i doubt it.have you ever seen a young woman screaming her baby in her arms with the back of its head blown away, the old man tring to push his stomach back into the hole where it used to be and then dying before your very eyes crying for his son,the young teenage girl her face torn apart by flying glass,.and many more horrific sights i have witnessed in a bomb attack.no missmore you dont know me personally and i am not venting my predudices on these events but these atrocities must be stopped whether these terrorists are muslim, british or of whatever religion or nationality.
I'd never have guessed you were a military man.
I am not defending terrorists - I think you might have got the wrong idea from my posts. I am saying that Muslims have just as much right to live in the UK as you. Regardless of the horrific sights you may have seen, it doesn't make saying you hate all Catholics, Germans, Irish and Muslims alright. Having an attitude like that in this day and age is pretty disgusting.

true, you are entitled to hate whomever you like.
i'm just pointing out that its a sad situation when people are attempting to justify their hate of a people that is based on skin colour and the god they believe in.
It's worth pointing out that any number of Muslims could have been killed had today gone differently - who should their families have blamed?

yes corbyloon hate in ni was very strong it was kill or be killed to a certain extent. its not easy to shoot someone and then say 'sorry mate but i like you really i didnt mean to blast your knees away' it doesnt work like that.and yes missmore i agree it is a sad situation but the islamic terrorists are making it this way.

One further point I wish to make regarding our muslim cousins.
I have said this before, but like some others on AB, I have been close to muslim soldiers (in proximity, not in friendship). These were not terrorists, these are the equivelent of our soldiers. Not conscripted, just normal men from all walks of life, some with a middle class upbringing, some from peasant land, some just after a safe income etc etc. All I will say, is these "Non-terrorists" are still amongst the most evil in the world. I have seen the devil in the white of their eyes. The evil that men do, is nowt worse than that of the muslim on their home soil. The so called tolerant ones here are just more cowardly than the foreign ones are are trying to be good. Their view of evil is no doubt expressed in their own homes etc.

Some Muslims have been/are terrorists. The vast majority of Muslims are law abiding citizens, going about their everyday duties and you yirsel have spoken about peace loving Muslims, They are not to be feared, they are not a threat to this country or any other country and they are not The Enemy.
The few can not be allowed to tarnish the reputation of the many.

Stokeface,
I served in the Royal Scots in NI on several tours, I was also in the Gulf in 90-91, where I seem to remember 1STAFFS were also deployed,
I also remember the bomb attacks carried out by the IRA et al however, I do not hate the Irish, catholics, Iraqi soldiers from GW1, Serbians or anyone else (apart from joe_the_liar aka ward-minter)

Wow!!! what a rant.
So here is my confused take on this country.
Having wandered, lonely as a cloud lol, through the net occasionaly, I have come across some bizarre stuff from politicians about leaving this green and pleasant land.
I trawled through one speech by Michael Howard and the gist of what he was saying was.... If you've made your money then leave the country lol....
I also was listening to the radio and an advert came on about How to Leave This Country. It was a government ad lol...
Any takers as to why?
btw. I have a lovely Muslim Dentist. She is an absolute gem :-)
