The things some people go to for entertainment & the owners to earn money. They can't be right in the head!

What do you think of this story, regarding bears being forced to box each other, complete with boxing gloves & muzzles?

This cruelty to animals must stop!

Smudge,

Because this is an extremely trivial matter and not worth worrying about.
it may be trivial in your opinion gromit, but it's not to others like smudge and myself.
Question Author
Gromit - if you feel this is an extremely trivial matter - why did you bother participating in my thread then? Surely you must have better things to do - so do run along>>>>

BOO you were right - I can see why gave up on Gromit earlier!
BOO,

Fair enough, so you have posted on here, now what? What are you going to do about it?

Nothing?
I gotta be honest smudge I find people like Gromit downright scary and lacking something mentaly. How anyone can look at at story like that and not feel anything, be in disgust, empathy or anger is beyond me.
Now that would be assuming wouldn't it Gromit? How do you know that we won't do anything?
Smudge - Your response to me was a bit harsh. Firstly I actually said this isn't the first time that I'd read a story like this. They pop up quite a lot. Secondly I never once said I condoned cruelty to animals but your question was what do you think of the story? And my response was that I found it hard to get particulary irate about it which I also pointed out was my own character flaw.

(And thank you for the concern about my pets but unfortunatley I have already lost a cat to some moron deciding to feed her rat poison).

NJOK was actually bang on the nail about what I meant and expressed it a lot better than me.
"I gotta be honest smudge I find people like Gromit downright scary and lacking something mentaly."

Now, now. Disagreeing with each other's fine but let's not sling insults around eh?
Sorry, perhaps it was a bit harsh of me to say that. However It IS the truth. I never said that's the way they really were, just my perception of them.
You are assuming I am in favour of cruelty which I am not. I am not unfeeling. I myself would hurt a fly. What I find scary is this animals before people argument.

So what are you gonna do, demonstarte outside Tesco's, that is if it not closed because some animal rights lunatic says he's planted a bomb there, blow up a scientist maybe? Dig up the recently buried body of a Guinea Pig farmer perhaps?
whoops,

above read wouldnt hurta fly.
My money's on the one with the red cape...
Hang on- who said it was an "animals before people" argument? Did you not read our responses earlier? Both smudge and myself said we abhor cruelty of ANY kind. Just because smudge posted this one aspect of it and I empathised it doesn't mean we'd happily kick small children we see playing in a park!

And no, I wouldn't do any of the suggestions you put forward, isn't it funny when people use the animal terrorist stories as a way of putting genuine animal lovers down?
Question Author
China Doll - I apologise for appearing harsh to you & I'm also very sorry to hear about your cat - I do know what that feels like, as I'm a cat lover too.

However, you did mention 'high horse' earlier, also that you can't get 'particularly irate about it' - well neither have BOO or myself. It's just that some appear more caring than others - that's how it comes over on here anyway.

(Dodging about trying to get chores done here - didn't realise it would create so much attention - poor bears)!
"...who said it was an "animals before people" argument? ...we abhor cruelty of ANY kind."

Sorry, it have been this phrase that threw me...

"I really can't bring myself to care about 900+ deaths to humans caused by boxing."
I'd hardly call two people who choose to enter a ring and hit seven bells out of each other as a sign of cruelty imposed on them by others would you?
Question Author
J-e-s-u-s Gromit! I've just read your 'animals before people' remark.

When the penny does finally drop, please let me know, then I can press the 'no more responses' button!
Actually I'll expand on that a bit more gromit.

You show me one story where two humans have been taken out of their natural habitat, by force. Their mouths wired shut incase they might bite each other. Forced to fight each other against their will and then kept in appalling conditions inbetween each 'match'.

then, and only then will I show any kind of sympathy towards any human boxer.
Smude - That's the problem with pixelling, it's very hard to inject tone!

I do apologise for the high horse comment, it's not what I meant at all and I knew as soon as I phrased it that it was going to come out all wrong. It's just I'm usually to be found fully saddled up on my high horse in news so it was actually me I was referring to.

Also I wasn't implying that you or Boo were particularly irate just that I wasn't.

Right... glad that's all sorted now... phew!
Question Author
You really are thinking on the same lines as me BOO.

Earlier, I was going to ask Gromit if he'd like me to pop over, strip him of all his clothes, put a chain around his neck (oh, the mere thought of it) & force him to go for a nice long walk in front of lots of jeering people!

That would be so alien to you wouldn't it Gromit - yes, that's how bears must feel about being made to box with gloves on in front of jeering people!

Get it?
