Pretty obvious, I think
care to spell it out?
Well that's two of us wondering so can you make it a wee bit more obvious?
Alan2

Yes...exactly what are you driving at?

Is there something wrong with candidates for a by-election being from the community they are proposing to serve?

Are you suggesting that we cap the number of non-English candidates, or perhaps limit candidate to those with the surname Jones or Smith???

Stop thinking and put it in W-R-I-T-I-N-G ....

Lets hope Sarah Janet Edwards, Green Party wins it, sounds like a good old English name.
funny, I would have picked you as a Putting England First voter, but I guess your priorities lie elsewhere.
Not the "English Dems Putting England First" candidate?

I suppose putting only the names will save on ink and paper so perhaps that's a good idea. It wouldn't tell you anything about their politics either so you'd not have to think about confusing things such as policies or local issues so that would save time too.

In fact why vote, why not have a committee decide who has the most English name and that person would be chosen, that would save thousands on the election

Bit oif advice - it's best to think things through before committing them to paper (or website).

What's you've written makes you seem like a bit small-minded,and thick...which I'm sure isn't something you wanted to put across.
Alan2

Southall's ethnic mix: White: 29.8%. Non-white: 70.2%. Admittedly, these are figures from the 1991 census, so there may have been some movement since...but it stands to reason that local people, standing for election to the council will have names that reflect their ethnic background.

So again...what point are you trying to make?

What you've posted simply doesn't make any sense. Or am I being thick myself???
Alan2, is there no Veritas candidate ??? If not, there's your chance !
I'd vote Yakub Masih. We need more right wing Christian fundamentalism to redress the balance ;-)
< Scratches head and looks confused. Attempts to type sensible answer but loses the will to live half way through >

I vote for Tintin.
Well if China can have Tintin Im having Spongebob.... Crabby Patties all round.

I still dont see the point of this question.

Wonders what the most English name is as surely Sarah is a hebrew name or is that okay cause its not asian.
Alan2, you never know, lots of convert Christians around so unless you actually see her picture closeup, you have no idea who you're voting for these days .... confusing, I know! :S

I think you're better off voting for John from the Monster Raving Looney Party ... he sounds like a genuine Englishman :)

No-one is having a problem understanding the point of this question, lets get that out of the way first. But just in case, the author was highlighting the fact that the large majority of candidates in this constitution are of non British origins. As SP1814 quite rightly pointed out, non-Whites are the majority in these areas so it makes perfect sense why Indians are heavily represented politically.

Alan2 should have elaborated on this point and viewed his fears of how this could impact his and the lives of other white British people from a sociological point of view if this is the trend which is to spread out further than the inner-cities? Will newly appointed politicians give preference to the voice of people from their cultural background? Will we have the ideals and mindset of other cultures forced upon us? Will we go the same way as the aboringine or Native American Indian? The only answer I can offer is...Who knows?
Alan2 - are you the sequel to 'Alan'?

If so, would we need to see 'Alan' in order to understand the plot of Alan2, or is it like Pirates Of The Caribbean 2, where the plot didn't matter because even the writers didn't understand what the hell was going on?
