Muslims call to prayer

Should we allow a situation such as this in our schools? And should this teacher be sacked?
Why do we skirt around issues that might offend other religions and yet ignore issues that might offend Christians?

I will continue to tell it how it is, I refuse to sit on the fence.
I will not walk on egg shells for anyone.
I will continue to defend my Religion and my Culture.
What is happening to my fellow countrymen? are you all too afraid of being called a racist, let's see more of you post your views on this site, while this is still a free country.

I am offended by the following but its not about religion. My friend and I recently took receipt of a book re evening classes. It was produced with such a heavy bias to helping local asians that we both independently wondered if we white English gals could enrol. Yes we can. Just thought I'd check if we have to pay full fees - yep.
However, if you are one of 3 types (not race) of asylum seekers you get courses for free. Even if you are refused and dont fancy going home (we are not likely to encourage this) that person also gets the course free. So to recap; no, you cant stay and live here but while you make yet another application would you like to sign up for a free course, paid for by those who do pay.
This isn't racist (though I'm sure some will argue) its just blood-boiling, over indulgance of those who shouldn't be here even after they've been told officially to clear off.!.

It's a pretty shabby attempt at an argument to suggest that people are only disagreeing with you because they're afraid of saying what they really think. How about the alternative: that they actually don't hold the same view as you do?
That aside... I'm with jake. Teaching kids about religion is fine but teaching them to follow a certain religion is as bad as teaching them to follow a certain political persuasion. How would people feel if the children were being taught to Liberal Democrats, or Communists or Fascists?

Helen Green doesn't sound like a muslim name (though she might be a convert) and the class didn't contain any muslims. The call to prayer is not banned (Though some would like it to be). It seems legitimate to know about this in the context of an RE lesson. When I was at school, I remember writing the Lords Prayer out and I wasn't a christian.
The report which originated in The Sun did not mention if the children wrote out any christian, or other religions texts during their coursework, I would guess it did.
I was taught about other faiths while at school. It should be compulsary (and probably is), and no this teacher should not be sacked.

Hmmm, the teaching of other faiths should be banned in schools and be done out of school hours if required.
This is a christian country and it should be taught in schools, maybe not forced, but as an option.
Money shouldnt be wasted on teaching other religions.
If certian minorities require special treatment, then they should fund their extreme preferences themselves...

just sounds like an RE lesson has been taken out of context, when i was at school we had to write out various important bits of various faiths for projects - i remember jewish writings, drawing pics of hindu gods and some Buddhist sayings i believe... i think this is just part of an RE project that the papers have spun to mean something else - must have been a slow news day and when i doubt people will always lap up a bit of righteous indignation when the muslim faith is mentioned
This is a Christian country my arse!!! Who says? How many christians go to church? 7 percent apparently and they are predominantly old or in rural areas. If you really believe that only Christianity should be taught then kids are gonna be in for a big shock when they leave school and will probably lead to more racism. All or nothing, I think. Even in my sons very CofE school they learn about other religious festivals from the day they start. I think it promotes understanding and tolerance myself and agree with Gromit as long as kids arent being told to believe it, then its a good thing.
The beauty of Christianity Goody, is it is not a particular strict religion.
It is accepted that Christians do not go to church, I certainly don't.
However, to be a terrorist, sorry a muslim, you have to learn the koran, pray at unGodly hours, starve yourself once a year, marry within the clan, and blow up London tube stations.
There is very little a Christian needs to do to insure his place in Heaven. Basically, be a nice person and that is it!!!
It does not matter that you do not believe in God, because God believes in you.
Can the same be said of islam??? No, in some countries if you don't believe you are stoned to death!!!!
