ok a bit radical but effective,
a one month amnesty for these wasters who have guns in their possession,
then if found with one....
they are lined up against a wall and shot with it,
qiute simple,
dont want to die?
neither do we, so give up the guns!

these people are absolutely no use in a civilised society and their demise will be a benefit to us all

there can be no mitigation by the lefty lot in society for these people,

starting here lets clear the rubbish

Apologies, it only relates to fatalaties.

"Home Office figures show 50 fatal shootings in 2006, compared with 66 in 1995. There were 243 fatal stabbings in 1995, but only 212 in 2006."

Unfortunately the figures do not include how many of the people living in poverty are addicted to illegal drugs, alcohol or nicotine.

Could the increasingly violent films, PC and video/DVD games be responsible for the increaing violence on the streets, after all nobody really dies in them they are seen again in the next film etc., and there are no grieving relatives begging for help or someone standing trial for murder and being shown in prison.
I am sure some youngsters do not understand the finality of death, no close relatives dying, never been to a funeral, so it is only when somone they know either kills or is killed that they realise how final death is, however then they then feel that they must get revenge for the death and so the cycle begins
Hmmm, chompu, why everytime i answer a question does the post always become a question about me?
Are you and Goodsoulette one of the same?
Mr Ben
I admit I have been critical about you in a couple of posts recently. It's just that we have differing opinions on some subjects. You may recall a little while ago I supported you when others were giving you a hard time, I can't even remember what the question was about. Football violence annoys me because I have been a life time supporter of the game. The violence in the past has done nothing for this country or the reputation of all the fans. All it's done is get us banned from European competition for several years.
I joined in to support Goodsoulette. We are not the same person. I don't use any other ID. Besides we are of opposite gender. I'm sure she is much younger and better looking than me. She would confirm that we have had differing opinions before on other subjects. But then if we all agreed on everything there would be no point in AB.

Ref your figures regarding gun and stabbing offences. I couldn't find them in the Home Office sites but to compare two years that are separated by ten years proves nothing statistically. What about the years in between. I did notice one fact when I was looking, that around the turn of the century gun crime doubled from one year to the next.
However, I think that most would agree that there has been an upsurge of killings among black street gangs committed by younger than normal offenders.I know the press loves to sensationalise but if these crimes weren't happening they couldn't report them.
It does prove something, chompu. It proves that there were more fatal stabbings and shootings ten years ago than now.

What it doesn't prove is that they are on the decline. In fact, the opposite is true. In recent years, they have risen.

So I'm not saying there's no problem. What I was arguing against was the view that this is a 21st century problem that could only have come about because of the perceived demise of British values.
