Missing Madeleine
33 Answers
I don`t buy the Daily Express but am often drawn the the Front Page Headlines while waiting in a queue etc. Just about every day they seem to have a new disclosure in the case of missing Madeleine, which stangely is never mentioned on the television news nor other newspapers. Today, they announced the finding of a blood-stained syringe in the apartment - leading, I think, to some wild story about her parents injecting her for some reason - I then lost interest. What is the story behind the headline? Does any of their headlines really reveal anything?. I get the impression that the Madeleine story is being used by the Express in a pathetic ploy to get the paper sold on the strength of the front page. Am I wrong?

...what the Daily Express is doing is something akin to pornography.
A child is killed by their parent every week in the UK. However because the Express knows that this particular story has grabbed the public imagination, they're going to run with it as long as they can.
Did you know that last weekend The Express was printed with a headline which read "MCCANN'S CAR SMELT OF CORPSE".
Seriously.
The Daily Mail may be noxious right wing filth, but by making money out of a missing child...well, The Express is porn.
Nasty, very nasty.

I saw on a foreign news website a few weeks ago that the parents are still under suspicion.
It said something about a top policeman being dismissed for leaking info about the case.
I cant remember where i saw it, but i am sure someone will find a link.
Apparently, the media know a little more about the case than they are letting on, but have told they can only give certain info out.
You will see in the coming months that the parents will play a bigger part in this as more info comes out.

SP; it was even more bizarre a claim than that, the headline read "McCann's car KEYS had scent of a corpse on them".
How can the Express get away with printing such bilge? I actually agree with some views on AB that the McCanns played a major role in their little girl's disappearance (either by neglect or perhaps more sinister circumstances...I'm not a police officer so I don't know) but this kind of hysterical rumour-mongering helps no-one.

I saw just one reference to the building work which was filled in the day after she went missing - it was on here when some-one quoted Paul Condon. At the time I thought this very strange that more explanation was not given because it was a similar scenario in Greece when the little boy went missing. As Andrea says, the Portugese police release information in a different way to ours which does lead to a lot of pure speculation by the British press. I do not think the parents are in any way involved and feel sure that they will feel guilty for the rest of their lives whatever the outcome and in the meantime, there is no way I would buy a newspaper(!) which prints idle gossip on such a tragic event.
I hope that all those who criticise the public demeanour of the parents of a missing child never have to get bad news from their GP or a cardiologist. Would they prefer to have their doctors cry along with them then?
Medical professionals are human, and suffer like the rest of us, but are trained not to show emotion. Has no-one ever heard of self-control?
We should admire the parents, not add to their suffering. Would people feel better if they cried for the cameras? Would that satisfy their prurience?

some people might not remember the lindy chamberlain case in Australia in the 80s.The media frenzy, the public gossiping about it etc.it was made into a film, 'cry in the dark'.Basically the media and public didnt buy lindy chamberlain's story that a wild dingo grabbed her baby daughter in the night and she got villified by the press and public, got jailed for it.Apparently she had a 'cold' persona. The mc'canns seem to be getting the same treatment.By some slim chance, a climber found the baby's matinee jacket on a nearby mountain a few years later, the only proof that lindy chamberlain had been telling the truth all along.I really feel for the M'canns, they may find never find madeleine and if they dont, alive or dead, they will always be judged and have suspicion upon them for the rest of their lives.
There are a lot of unanswered questions about the parents. Why didn't they use the services of a child minder? What about the sedation of their kids? Why has Kate being interview for 11 hours by the police? At least they are guilty of child neglect, you don't leave your kinds alone to go an drink 14 bottles of wine. What about the smells detected on the car they rented 25 days after the disappearance? I truly hope that they are not guilty, but I've got the feeling that the case is going to be solved soon.
