If so then no I don't think it should be acceptable.I think 3 years is an acceptable punishment.I have no idea what he was actually charged with but I hope he realises what he did was wrong in so many ways(I doubt he does realise though).I also think the people who stood around watching and laughing at his antics should have been punished too.
By the way amsterdammer, what has his colour got to do with anything?or did you just put that in to make a point about the post the other day about the man on the tram?

I agree that 3 years is actually a good sentence in this day and age. Only this week a man who blinded that 96 year old got off, a few weeks ago that kiddy fiddling Jehover weirdo got off and then the husband who burnt his wife with an iron received community service.
Yes in my world the man should have his testicles burnt with a bunsun burner, his eyes gouged out and ear drums perforated whilst being given no benefits for the rest of his life, but that is not going to happen.
Lets hope he gets a big black gansta-type bum bandit as a cell-mate.

Glad to see that only "moderates" have responded. Can anyone qualify the question further? Was the chap urinating on the woman because she was on fire and there was no immediate water source available? (Mitigating circumstance) However, filming the incident for You Tube is reprehensible in the extreme... but unfortunately we are not the sole arbiters of what constitutes Justice. I'd prefer to leave it to those who are employed by the Crown to dispense an "adequate punishment", provided the miscreant is deemed guilty by a jury of his (or her) peers.
Just heard this on the news. That poor woman, I wonder what her last thoughts were? I feel so sorry for her remaining family, to have to live with the way she died. I find myself looking about me as I go to and from work and I really feel uncomfortable at the way things are going. On a totally different level to this case, I went in to Primark today, the shop was a total mess. I couldn't believe all the clothes ect.. that had been left on the floor, one woman I saw just literally dropped her shopping basket with clothes in and walked out of the store, she had teenagers with her, what's going on with people?
he should be ashamed
i suspect his age was mentioned as 27 is very old to be performing such a 'childish' act - not that my or any others kids would probably do this
at 27 he should be taking more responsibility for his actions and it serves him right.
i too think the sentance is just considering that he defiled a human in her last hours considering that a headteacher in my coumty has just received 2 years for possessing 100,000 (100 of the worse possible mature) child porn images
the urinater should be put in the public stocks and flogged and the headteacher should be locked up for life
both a pair of ******** no use to this country

3 years a bit harsh.
What he did was seriously wrong.......and the effects on the victim were far more severe than he could predict. He was high on drugs and smashed by alcohol........I think that is a mitigating factor. Your judgement has gone to pot.
He will now become a career criminal because of the jail term, and far worse for society.

meredith101 ,you think 3 years was a bit too much well if had been up to me I'd have handed him over to the lady's family first before jailing him for at least 5 years .
You say mitigating circumstances !! when you take drugs, alcohol etc you are fully aware of what happens beforehand therefore should not be indulging in either activities if you don't want to spend a long time with others of your ilk! He is all ready a criminal in my eyes ,doesn't have to go to jail to become one.

The guy is ridiculously callous and foolish. What he has done to a defenceless dying woman is pretty much indefensible, but I'm going to argue that 3 years is about right.
He has not killed her, and he has not inflicted any physical damage that contributed to her death so far as I can make out from the story. He's guilty of committing a foul act and for not helping a person in trouble. 3 years (sit and imagine how long that is) seems sufficient for a one off incident such as that.
