Should Scotland Yard get involved

Once again "Johnny Foreigner" snaps his fingers for help, and we come running, regardless of cost to the British tax payer.
Should we in this instance be sending out members of Scotland Yard to investigate a crime committed by foreign nationals in a foreign country?
Money and resources seem to be no problem, when it comes to helping out foreign countries, yet when our own nationals need cash, it is always the same answer "we can't afford it".Giving our Police a decent pay rise is a prime example.

I dunno, but it would make me feel pride that our police are held in such high regard internationally that they would be called in to investigate crimes abroad.
And remember, Pakistan has very close links with the UK. It's not like the murder occurred in Latvia or New Guinea.

It's wrong on so many, many, many levels.
First of all, 'sand n*ggers' (which has now been removed from post) are traditionally Arabs...not Pakistanis. If you want to use racist epithets, at least be geographically accurate.
Secondly, by using racist language, you detract from what you're trying to say. A lot of people will immediately disregard whatever you have to say because they'll be offended by the way you put it.
However, it's your choice.

I thought the term needed extending to cover all those who follow the backward, evil religion. I realise that the term is traditionally for the Arabs but as the spiritual home is mecca, (in Arabia, not the Bingo hall) I figured it would be ok to extend it to cover the whole lot of them.
Still it would be frightfully informative if someone could tell me what our plods are actually trying to find out!

SP1814 I think you have addressed R1Man very well, and nothing I could add would improve on your answer. Except to say that it is such posters as R1Man that gives the left wing excuse to stiffle honest debate on racial matters, by pigeon holing the right wing as Racists, Nazis, Members of the BNP etc.
Anyway, back to the matter at hand...I would be very surprised if the leaders in Pakistan indeed 'demanded' help. It would be far more likely that a request for assistance came through the foreign office.
We have a strong national interest in maintaining stability in the region...especially in Pakistan.
Anything that could destablise Pakistan would be horrible for our troops in Afghanistan/Iraq etc.
I admit to only having a loose grip on the spelling of 'Afghanistan' and no time to spell check it.

No doubt Pakistan is footing the bill but even so I don't see why they should go. I suppose we should be pleased that our boys in blue are respected enough to make it worth while for Pakistan. Although in his own psychotic way R1man has also made me wonder what they are actually going to be investigating. I thought she was shot and the chap then detonated his homicide bomb killing himself and others, I don't know what further information is sought.

Ah...but the facts behind the murder are being hotly disputed - by both sides.
My guess (and it's purely supposition on my part) is that the Pakistani authorities want to show the world that they have brought in a completely impartial team to investigate the killing.
Because of the international reputation that the British police enjoy, it makes sense that their assistance would be sought.

When there are allegations of corruption and a potential link back to the government, it makes sense to have an independent review. UK police have a history in this area as is mentioned in the article, and we have close links with Pakistan, so it makes sense that some of our detectives are utilised.
