Will Barack Obama's Muslim past prevent him from becoming the first Black President?

http://www.thefirstpost.co.uk/index.php?menuID =2&subID=1683

Incidently why does he class himself Black, when the fact is, he has not seen his Black father (a Kenyan) since he was two years old, and was brought up by his White Mother?

He classes himself black because he is black. The pigment of his skin is not european pink but African brown.

He does not really have a muslim past. I was sent to church, Boy Brigade and Sunday School but I have never been a Christian. It is what the adult does or doesn't do. He claims to be a Christian, which in my book is just as bad as being a muslim.

In answer to your question, no, it will not prevent him. It will harm his vote in some quarters, but may even help in others.
Not a very good choice for Mississippi - Alabama vote. Hilary Clinton or a 'darkie' ffs
Booldawg, I think there may be, for one reason or another, quite a few black voters in the southern US.
I wonder how many blacks will vote for Obama because he is black, in a fine vote for equality, and how many whites will not vote for him because he is black, in a shameful display of racism.
Whiffey - I had those same exact thoughts. And I think if he is elected as the next US President all hell will break loose in America.
figure, it is all ok, Obama is most fortunately a Christian. The threat to the USA is not from racism, but from Islam. Look at Condi and Colin Powell, 100% good eggs and not taking any nonsense from raving towel-heads.
No.

Watching C4 News now. Why does it matter so much that a US President might be BLACK.

America's first BLACK President.

So what. Why does color have to come into it. He's a Christian so all will be well.
Firstly, Mr. Obama attended a Catholic and a Muslim school while living as a child in Indonesia. The school was a private school and his parents wished to provide the best education they could. See here: http://www.snopes.com/politics/obama/muslim.as p ...

Has anyone here ever run successfully (repeatedly) for a Congerssional seat, written a successful book and been selected by his party run for President of the U.S. on here? I didn't think so.

This thread, combined with a similar one preceeding it seems to indicate the only racists in evidence are on this site.

To say I'm greatly dissapointed is an understatement...
For once I'm in full agreement with Clanad.
With blacks being in the USA for so long, agreed not traditionally by choice, one would imagine a great deal of integration had gone on, so much so that there was no need to associate oneself with separate communities. Yet there does seem to be white cultures and black cultures, blurred at the edges though they may be. That's very sad.
no sadder than this country nikki, we may pride ourselves on being multicultural, but we're not really are we, from what I see

Oh how the hand wringing liberal left, cannot wait to cry RACISM at the least opportunity.

I don't suppose that the Blacks voting for him because he is Black, could also be considered "RACIST" against the Whites, or does't it work that way?

I don't know if you are White or Black whiffey it matters not, but what does matter is the fact that statements such as yours, do more harm to racial harmony than most other things.

But then perhaps this is your whole intention.
