what is the matter with doctors these days ! been bleeding for a good 18mths loosing big blobs , been to the hospital had my ovaries scanned , on these tablets them tablets . And 18mths down the line still no further forward . just felt the biggest blob ever fall out of me on the bathroom floor couldnt even get to the toilet on time . sent home fom work today flooded right through only there an hour and all i had to do was put my hand on the outside of my trousers and it was covered in blood . why cant the doctors get me to the hospital put me asleep and have a look then we may have some answers instead of wasting my money on all these precriptions for pills that are just trying to stop the bleeding which isnt helping we need to know where its coming from and why ! but what makesme mad genuine ppl like us with problems have to wait year but if a druggie went to the doctor and said he wanted to go rehab he'd proberly go that day !

My neighbour had a similar situation. She was suffering from uterine fibroid tumours but was scared to have the fibroids surgically removed. She bled the same as you are describing. Two weeks ago she passes the tumour like a miscarriage. It just fell right out of her. Eventually she ended up in the hospital and stayed for a week. She is up back to normal now.
Hope you get the necessary help for your situation and you get better soon. All the best to good health. xx

Hi leeandjoanne sound like you definately need some form of definitive investigation, diagnosis and treatment planning however I'm unsure what benefit you would get from attending A&E (unless of course you are suffering acute blood loss this minute in which case there's an obvious need to attend there!!)
Have you requested a second oppinion from another GP?

Go back to your GP , insist he refers you to a gynaecologist and don''t take no for an answer . You have the right to see a specialist .
If he still tries to fob you off ask to see another doctor in the practice or the practice nurse .
I can sympathize with you enormously because this happened to me many years ago . I had a doctor at the time who said it was "one of those things and I would have to put up with it ".
Luckily when I went for appointment about it I saw a different partner who was quite shocked at the state I was in ...six weeks later I had a hysterectomy because I had massive fibroids !
You may not need anything so drastic ..perhaps just a D&C but you can't walk about like that .Go in there and be firm .
Take care ..hope you soon get it sorted out ..

I agree with the last post- this is NOT a job for A and E- they will NOT be able to speed up you being investigated/operated on. they are for ACCIDENTS or EMERGENCIES. A and E is staffed by general doctors NOT specialists. I agree this is a horrid problem you have- but it doesnt fit with either of the A and E criteria- you NEED to get your GP to get you a rapid out patient review by a gynaecologist.
Sorry leeandjoanne I didn't realise you had already seen a gynaecologist..nevertheless something is not right somewhere ..did they not even suggest a D&C ? Whilst they do that they can have a look to see if there is anything else wrong .
This is usually the first thing they will do with someone suffering heavy bleeding like this if other medication doesn't work .

I have just reread you initial post and feel the need to comment on your last sentence. Firstly there is a great shortage of drug/alcohol rehab places and they would almost certainly NOT get sorted immediately. Secondly you are (I assume) NOT a health care professional, and therefore NOT in the position to pass judgement on other peoples medical needs.
I understand you are frustrated, but please try to avoid passing moral and/or medical priorities on others. Your doctor is there to treat each patients as an individual, and assesses everyone- including you- on clinical need.

I understand how you feel- but if there (albeit self inflicted) condition is going to kill them soon, and your is a sprained ankle- which everyone is ALWAYS convinced in broken- then the junkie comes first everytime.
And when we come to discussing self inflicted what about the overweight patinet who gets diabetes/heart attack/stroke, the smoker with asthma/ copd, lung cancer, the kid playing on his bike who gets a broken wrist, the amateur footballer who lunged for a tackle and has broken his foot?... all self inflicted I feel.
I for one feel I am far from perfect, so would not like to pass judgement values on others.... infact I would like to help and encourage 'junkies' to get help for rehab as soon as they ask for it- the asking is a big step.
by the by I have never taken drugs....

Sorry frogetta but if you were walking around in that sitiuation you would feel like blasting someone ..it's not pleasant when you have continual flooding week in week out and what look like great lumps of liver and clots of blood falling away from you and no one seems to be able to do anything about it when in fact they can .
It's debilitating ,embarassing and very unpleasant .
