Sorry Britain Im all fingers and thumbs today :-)
My fiance will be happy if they do.........he works in a bank.lol
Question Author
but surely that means the irish get another bank holiday when they already get it on St Patricks, cant we just have a bank holiday on St Georges
Sounds a good idea. Very patriotic.

And if people don't want to celebrate it, then they can just have a strop in bed ;D
if another bank holiday is provided it should not be called britain day......this would be another nail in the coffin of englishness

what on earth would be wrong with having one for St George's Day........

nothing of course, but we all have to remember that this government has completely lost its way!
Question Author
thats exactly my thoughts, have it on st georges
It should be...

Chicken Tikka Masala Day

...in honour of our national dish.

Cheap publicity stunt. If Brown wants to make people proud of Britain again he should focus on equality and child poverty.
lets call it Thatcher day!
Question Author
maybe when she's dead, not long now
plain and simple.

let the rest of Britain decide what day they want as a celebration, give us, the English.....

St. Georges day.

allow us to be proud of who we are, on our chosen day !
:-)
There's not enough of us British left in the country to celebrate it !!!!
Eastender

What???

You think that fifty seven million isn't enough???

That's 'crayons only' talk.
thats57 million people, not 57 million BRITISH people.

Im all for a British Day. At last someone has had the savvy to put this country first! And it has taken a Scottish man to do it. Shame on us!
Not sure if you realise, but St Davids day isn't a bank holiday either!

I would personally like to see our St's being honoured in this way!
Question Author
but thats just it spaced, Ireland have st patricks day as a bank holiday already, why cant we have st davids as one
St Georges day, bad idea.
We already get 2 at Easter( often in april), then another 2 in May.
Lets have one on in October forTrafalgar Day instead! As an added bonus it'll wind up the Frogs.
eastenders got a point tho
Britain has the lowest number of national (bank) holidays in Europe. It also has the least statutory annual leave.

I'm all for more holidays but, given the choice, don't you want it added to your annual leave (so you can take the time off when you want) rather being made to take it on a random monday, along with 57 million others?
Why not have a National Family Day? Or a British Family Day? (the emphasis being that we get to spend time with our family ( assuming that most people would want to!)
