Thats what I think, In the short term, the people in the street will have a feelgood factor, but when you borrow, you have to pay back, with interest, and this Goverment is borrowing, Half a Trillion pounds, that means, as they've said, higher taxes, but that would also mean more businessmen becoming tax exiles.
Obviously there's a lot more, but doom and gloom for many a year to come.

there will be a heavy price to pay for this, and you can rest assure that the only people that will pay for this in the long run is YOU......so what that vat has been cut to 15% that means that if you brought someting for 150.00 last week at the old rate and you brought the same thing this week at the new rate you would have saved a whopping 2.00,yes that is a HUGE saving eh?...yes that will surely bring the feelgood factor back to the high street wont it?.....this govt makes billions of pounds in taxing the british people...we pay vat, income tax, council tax, road tax, national insurance contributions [if you work and are not an illegal that is] its all to little too late.the rich will continue to get rich and the poor will be even poorer when all this borrowing has to be repaid....in the form of higher taxation....eventually.
It's been suggested that some local Councils are proposing charging folk to park in supermarket carparks, at 50p or so an hour. Of course, this'd steadily increase as time went on, and I imagine it'd cause a few frayed tempers when stuck in a big queue at the checkout. It'd be a case of: "Hurry up! The clock's ticking - blast! Another 50p!!!"
It won't only be tax increases - whoever gets in - but they'll be dreaming up all sorts of new ways of taking your hard-earnt cash.

fully agree trt,and yes icemaiden they are after your cash as soon as you step out of the front door,in fact i spent 50.00 today and i actually NEVER left the house, the car insurance people phoned and said my payment was due so they had my payment over the phone via my debit card, now how unlucky is that?...lol
Which all came from the government before, and the government before that...down the line, but each successive one just makes things worse.
Makes me laugh how they can all go on jaunts, bought and paid for by the public, sdimnply to DISCUSS these sort of things. If they stopped wasting millions of pounds on stupid think tanks and other rubbish, they'd be able to put the money where it's really needed. The country's run by intelligent people with no common sense.

I agree with Ethel, not all pensioners need the 60 one of f payment, but some do. The problem is that sorting out who do and who don't is an administrative nightmare, so it is easier to give it to all pensioners.
Nobody complained when your house doubled in value over 5yrs, or when you were offered 125% mortgage, budget Airlines offered 40 return to Palma, unemployment was low,
billions were pumped into a malfunctioning NHS.
SURELY one could see a day of reckoning....well, here it is.

Perhaps a scheme could be organised that all pensioners that are as like minded as Ethel could send the 60 back and all proceeds be shared out between those who really do need it. There are many who do not need it, but many more that do. Or if the likes of Ethel think the suggestion would be unworkable, just let them donate it to charity. It is insulting to say that what applies to them should apply to all pensioners.
