No Nativity play because of Muslims

Why could the school not have chosen an all white cast for the Nativity play, or would they then been accused of racism?
But then perhaps in this school it is the white children that are the minority, therefore there would not have been enough children to make up the cast.

I'm white, born in this country, decended from Welsh folk which probably means I'm going to be most likely of celtic stock.
I'm agnostic but I'm supposed to adhere to christian beliefs in this 'christian country' (a religion that was foistered on us by immigrants I might add).
If you've read the story correctly the school pulled the play intiially because many students wouldn't be at school. Where does it say that muslims demanded for the play to be stopped?

Completely agree, thats why I reiterated in my last post saying the children were Christians. And thats what got me so annoyed- 'The Muslims' didn't ask for the play to be pulled at all, hate this sort of racism, people would find it unacceptable if people made sweeping generalisations about black people but its suddenly alright if it's directed at Muslims, or for that matter, anyone whos immigrated to this country in the past few years!

Christianity was foisted on me Coobeastie. That was my decision in later life. Yeh there are white muslims in the UK,most of them women who converted for their husband or to marry a muslim. Whatever the reason, the UK is not ours anymore. We have Polish immigrants and others but they dont expect us Brits to kow tow to their every whim.
this is from the daily mirror not the mail

did anyone read the article, or just the headline?
The school didn't cancel to pacity the muslims, it postponed it because a lot of kids will be away for their festival and they'd managed to time the play weeks before xmas.
In fact, there's even quotes from muslim parents like this one:
"Sajad Hussain, 35, of who has two children at the school said: 'My children will be off for the two days next week to see their family.
'It's not that complicated; they could have one event on one day and another on another day, they should have both celebrations at the school."
How is it that the mail always manages to find the hate?
To coin a Daily Mail phrase: "it's an outrage!"

according to this it seems that it's not even a nativity play that's been cancelled, its a pantomime! In which case it's not even a religious argument, just a fact that the school wanted all children to be able to attend and enjoy the performance!

Sorry to go without answering you AOG
I've been rather instumental in a few - our kids primary school head used to be firmly atheist and I backed him up over a lot of issues.
None of these schools are putting on a muslim play - the muslim angle is sheer rubbish.
Britain is a secular country now - if you want your kids to dress up as Mary and Joseph do it in church.
Oh Sorry I forgot almost none of you actually go to church other than weddings fulnerals and the odd carol service if it's not raining
What a joke!

Have some of you read, some of the posts on this subject?
Imagine if this was a round table debate, would you dare to open your mouths to inject your frivolous contributions into the debate?
All I can say is, I am looking forward to the lighter nights, when the kiddies can play out instead of them sitting at the computer spoiling news topics with their infantile drivel.

Wow this really is sloppy journalism!
Not only did they get the facts wrong as Gromit pointed out but if you read it carefully the Mail doesn't even seem to have contacted the school but wrote the whole story from some letters the school sent out.
Even the express wrote a better story

When are you going to give up reading that rag AOG?

The school is putting on Cinderella.
This is irrelevant, it is not a Nativity play. (the subject under discussion)
It has not been cancelled, but has been moved.
No one has said it has been cancelled, it has been moved until after Christmas.
Another prime example of the Mail distorting the facts and the gullible believing them.
Once again a clear case of over exaggeration and complete lies perpetrated by Gromit in his continuing quest to slander the Daily Mail and to stifle facts that he would rather us not know about (does this not also remind you of someone else who's first name also begins with the letter G ?)
In a letter, sent by the staff at Greenwood Junior School, mothers and fathers were told: 'It is with much regret that we have had to cancel this year's Christmas performances. 'This is due to the Eid celebrations that take place next week and its effect on our performers.
The words were 'cancel this year's Christmas performances' ........TRUE
'This is due to the Eid celebrations' (Islamic celebration)
.................TRUE
The word gullible is more befitting Gromit who is gullible enough to be brainwashed by his masters, whoever they are.

You will have to stop trying to stop believing 'the facts' according to Gromit. (unless you are one of the same).
The Daily Mail did not get it's facts wrong, read my former post.
One does not have to read the article too carefully Jake(unless one is a little short on the uptake of course), to come to the conclusion that there was no need for the paper to contact the school, since the school had already issued a press statement. The Mail also got comments from parents, so no way was it 'sloppy journalism'
