race question
Firtsly, I am a srict anit-racist, secondly this is a delicate subject, but I am confused. 90% of the time, if a white person uses a certain word beggining with n and enfing in r they are sacked / reprimanded, if an afro carribean person for instance uses it, nobody batters an eyelid. Why is this? Similarly, would I be frowned upon if I started an award ceremony called the MOWO's (Music of White Origin?)

The reason black people can use the n word is that they seem to have taken it as a friendly insult - for example I caould go up to a friend and call him a w@nker - if I did it to a stranger they would probably hit me.
Since white people have no soul or rhythm, MOWO's would not catch on ;-o

Oi, no soul or rhythm. Been to a Northern Soul all-niter Oneeyedvic?
Spot the Black man!
Re. use of language - I call myself part of the Aryan Master race all the time, but if a non-white did it, I'd be fuming (-;.
Hope no Americans are reading this or I'll be banned under Anti-Irony Legislation ... as I've found to my cost on other forums.
The n word was considered completely verbotten for many years until the mid-80s when it started to reappear as a fraternal term between rappers and hip hop artists, and from whence it became part of youth lanaguage. There's an interesting article about it here:

Also, the NAACP (North American Association for the Advancement of Coloured People), one of the leading bodies associated with the civil rights movement condemns the word still.
MOBO was started because the mainstream awards ceremonies did not recognise achievement by black musicians, and in music which had black origins, such as hip hop. However, the awards are not restricted to black people. It would be pointless setting up MOWO since this is essentially what the BPI is already.

the question shouldnt be 'why isnt there a MOWO'?, but "why is there a MOBO?' this is simply a matter of black people seeing the difference of there colour, as opposed to no black people, non black people trying to say everyone is a human, we are all under same umbrella, so we wont have a seperate awards, but someone felt the need for there special music to be given its own award ceremony. MOBO is just making black people look more different to non blacks. I mean lets have an award ceremony for every single race, the asian award ceremony, the chinese award ceremony!
Certainly in the UK, with all this idiotic Political Correctness and Racial Awareness, the one person who is not as equal as everyone else is the white, British, heterosexual male.
Even in the Police Service there exsists a Black Police Association and probably a Gay Police Association (not sure about that one, but in all probability it does!). You can bet your life that if a white heterosexual officer tried to start a White Police Association or a Heterosexual Police Association he (or she!) would be sacked.
I've no connection with the Police - this is just an observation and the tenet would probably apply throughout Britain in all walks of life.
