For me the story line and the new Arthurs' dialogue was more or less similiar to that in the original . However I didn't find the new arthur character , as funny as the original . Do you agree ?
And that is the problem - comparisons are always going to be made .
I didn't see it,but did you realise that Lex Shrapnel (Jamie Collins) is the maternal grandson of Deborah Kerr?
His father John Shrapnel was married to Deborah Kerr's daughter Francesca Bartley.
I saw an interview with Shane Ritchie and he said it is meant to be different. He isn't playing Arthur, he is his nephew, and it is to be seen as just that.
What are they going to do the other weeks? It's all about pulling a scam, dodging and diving - a pair of crooks with hearts of gold ( saving kids from burning houses)..yadda yadda yadda....Poor relations in every sense. But it could grow on you.
I did think that it had very similar story lines and it looked like the great metrolops has not moved on in 20 years. Well the gangsters still wear shiny suits and the place looked dull and dreary. But it was pleasant enough I guess.
I say Berti, I think this show is for the young whipper snappers and what not.
These rogueish rapscallion scoundrels and their misadventures, all in good jest.
I have to confess that I did'nt see it as I was watching a game of association football on the other channel, I forget the result...
As i has the minder name and theme, I can't help but draw comparisons with the original, which I loved (for a few years anyway), so I didn't event attempt to watch it. Sorry, Shane ritchie does nothing for me, and from what I saw in the trailers, is just an Alfie Moon clone.
Even tho it was a repeat, I watched Dennis in new tricks instead.
From the advert it looked a bit too slap-stick for my tastes.
I watched a thoroughly enjoyable programme about one of my favourite authors (Terry Pratchett) instead.
If feedback is good, I may give it a chance in future.
What o Berti, I say AOG you really are an old stick in the mud at times.
I say Berti old bean you're still infactuated with our colonial cousins, soccer I say!
Poor show.
But Polo on the green sounds elfabuloso, I'll bring the Pimms and you bring Stiffy.
Tinkerty tonk.
