The notion of a 'blunt knife' is simply knee-jerk revenge based on some bizarre right-wing revenge gene which people without acces to facts and information love to see as a solution.
It's one step away from the "I'd pull the lever ..." brigade which is similarly ill-thought out nonsense.

Once again we have the situation of a country being criticised for doing the correct thing.
Castration should be the treatment for sex offenders everywhere and by that I mean proper sex offenders not some over sexed office type who patted the secretary on her bum. There are other ways to deal with those.
I had to laugh at the comment that castration in this case was 'degrading treatment'.
No. I'll tell you what 'degrading treatment' is. It is the rape of children and women by these inhuman beings.
The method of the castration doesn't need to be extreme, any more than methods of capital punishment need to be extreme. It needs to be done properly.
The sooner we get it here, and capital punishment, the better but our masters in Brussells have decided otherwise.

This assumes that men rape because they are unable to control their sexual urges.
Rape is much more complex than that and is, in the majority of violent rape (rather than 'date rape), a means of causing terror and pain in the victim, in a very humiliating way.
These men would not stop if they were castrated - they would simply use an object rather than their penis to carry out their vicious assaults. It is probable that some men would be even more dangerous after castration - they would blame women.
They have a hatred of women and they use rape as a means of debasing women

I wonder what these kids will do when they get older

I might surprise you here.
I was very much against it and then I investigated the facts and had a change of mind
You may be surprised that it's not 100% effective but it's in the 90-100% range

The issue is in forcible castration - this should only be done voluntarilly - you might think who would but a lot of sex offenders know they have a problem and a surprising number will especially if there's a reduction in sentence involved.
There's no place for it if it's compusory or if undue pressure is brought to bear but otherwise it could be a big step forward in some cases
