such hatred towards muslims and the immigration population in general why dont the authoroties round them all up and put them all in concentration style camps and deport them all to their country of origin if they cannot prove that they should be here legally,this could be an ongoing operation...the cost would be astronomical but the savings would be greater............

Well they do try, but it is hard work.

I saw a program on Sky the other day called "UK Border Patrol" I think it was, where they raided a few places trying to round up illegal immigrants.

One was at a supermarket where people were cleaning cars.

First problem was that as soon as they drove into the car park some of them did a runner and they had to get the police to go after them.

Then of course, most of them did not speak English, so you have trouble trying to get them to prove who they are.

Also, some of them said they had no passport, so how do you prove who they are and which country to send them back to.

Then of course you have to keep them locked up till you go through all the paperwork to find out who they are, how they got here, if they have family here and so on.

Only then can you start making plans to send them back to their home country.

I wish it was easier than this, but with nearly 1 million illigal immigrants here it is going to take a long time.

And, of course, as quick as you are kicking them out, others are coming in to replace them.

One of the guys featured on the UK Border Control program was a sex offender who had come here from Lagos, Nigeria.

When we finally got agreement to send him back to Nigeria we sent FOUR border patrol officers with him, to make sure he got there and was handed over to the Nigerian authorities.

That is a lot of time and money for one person (I am not saying we should not have done it, but it shows how much work it is to get rid of each individual from this country).

This is far easier said than done.

How do you spot an illegal immigrant? They dont walk around with a sign on their head.

One way they have tried to do this is to raid places where there is lots of casual low paid workers (cleaners, waiters, other casual work).

But that only gets a few, how do you find the rest?

What about the ones that dont work, or live in the criminal world, or those that perhaps have well paid jobs (but are still illegal) so wont get found out in raids?

Do you go to high immigrant areas and start knocking on doors.

If they did that their would be cries of harrassment.

I live in Birmingham, an area with very high immigration levels, and there are whole streets with nothing but immigrants in them, but nobody has any idea which ones are legal and which are not.

I am not saying we should not round up illegals (in fact I am strongly in favor of it) but it should not be underestimated how diffiucult the job is.

i agree vhg but maybe just ''get tough'' policy snatch squads and just pick them all up?whoever they are and where ever they are,whether they are walking the streets,working in kebab houses etc etc out shopping,collecting the kids from school or whatever daily business they are going about round them up and inter them in camps and keep doing it.......ethnic cleansing....but in a humane way....

What about the white Muslims from places like Bosnia and Chechnya?
I.D cards would solve a lot of problems were public services are required, but this would have to be linked to a national data base.

I agree first we must have ID cards, everyone would have to register to obtain one.

We should also have a two stage passport, anyone who is not British in the full meaning of word, would hold a 2nd class passport, This passport would have certain restrictions attached to it.

Anyone who was born in Britain, but who had committed certain actions against the state, would then have their 1st class passport taken from them and issued with a 2nd class one, with their misdemeanors logged onto it.

I am sorry but you have to be practical.

There are over 50 million people in the country, so picking out illegal immigrants is not that easy (particulalry as we have so many "legal" blacks, asians, iraqis etc)

Anyway, not all illegal immigrants are black, or asian, or easy to pick out in some other way.

Many people come here as students or visitors, and just outstay their visa, or just never go home

Some of them are white people from Australia, or New Zealand, or the USA.

You cant just stop people in the street and say "are you an illegal immigrant". If we are reduced to that we are living in a police state.

And if they say they are NOT an illegal immigrant where do you go from there?.

As I said, I live in Birmingham, and I HATE the fact that when I go into my city centre I feel like a stranger in my own city.

However, I am practical enough to know that finding and getting rid of illegal immigrants is no easy process.

The real problem is that we allowed so many "legal" immigrants in that it is now VERY easy for the illegal immigrants to "hide" in the immigrant ghettos we now have in most cities.

I have said many times that we have gone too far now to go back. The immigration errors were made 20 or more years ago and I am afraid we are now "stuck" with them (and the problems they bring).
