No, BOO, sorry I can't believe the word of a guy who is waiting to gain entry here by any means, if it is work he wants and not the benefits and a "nice house" let him stay and fruit pick or something like that in France untill he gets a good job there, plus we are in a recession, we can't find employoment for 2,000,000 and getting higher, Sorry Mr Zaid, whoever said this is the land of milk and honey would be the ones who put into the pot and have taken nothing from it.
AOG should be congratulated for posting the link to this story.
Two points are glaringly obvious - one this man want to come here because of our laudable standards on human rights. That says something very positive about the UK in 2009. Nice to know that we have a reputation for protecting 'the little guy'.
Secondly, whilst Mr Zaid may be a little misguided about the availability of housing (asylum seekers are placed in the kind of hostels that even cockroaches turn down, citing them as being 'a bit grim'), he did say that he wanted to get a job.
What a refreshing attitude. I'm sure that some of those Brits who spend their days frittering away their dole cheques at www.foxybingo.com, whilst Jeremy Kyle plays quietly on their 46" plasma telly could take a lesson from that.
I go to the gym before work, which means I get a bus at 05:30am. I notice that the only people other than me on the bus are immigrants. Off to look after the kids of the middle classes, clean our offices, work in the clothes industry and the transport system.
I doff my cap to them. They have a work ethic which seems to be on the decline in this country.
How many of us would travel thousands of miles to improve our standard of life?
I'm not getting on my high horse here...I'm as lazy as the next man - I resent having to change tube lines in the morning...!
Hasn't he heard there are 8 million unemployed here. Has he been taken in by the 2million figure dished out for propaganda purposes. More likely he has heard about the benefits system which gives you a house and money to live on. Without savings how could he possibly get a house with such low earnings?
