On a serious note...can those who cheered on the people chucked the eggs at Peter Mandelaon a few months back tell us what they think of this story?

If I recall correctly, the general tone from the dailymailers was "This is a robust demonstration of deeply held contempt and politicians who are in the public eye must occasionally accept this".

By the way, the success of the BNP will galvanize anti-racists like no-one's business. Remember when the National Front and Combat 18 were busy shaming the nation in the 70s and 80s? Soon after that Red Wedge was formed together with Rock Against Racism.

well jno for what it's worth I think it's out of order whoever the targets are. I have never condoned it. I accept that there are a lot of politicians who's views I don't agree with including the BNP but I think we all suffer when rent a mob do this sort of thing. Christ I find Noo Labour and the Islington Liberal elite To55ers offensive but I don't go round lobbing eggs at them. the question is really about the irony of those not tollerating those who are intollerant! The so-called 'Loony Left' also disagree with Tory policies, UKIP etc, but you don't see the same scenes when they try to stage news conferences.

The point about Mandelson relates to the fact that the dailymailers who found that amusing suddenly find egg throwing abhorrent when it's turned on someone who's views they either openly or tacitly approve of.
