I see the BNP thread was deleted. Nice to see democracy at work(!)

Perhaps the Ed could give us a list of what political parties we are allowed to recognise?

Ahhh yeah Jack, it was your thread wasn't it- did it get abusive at all?
I've not seen the exclamation mark used abused like that since a hilarious LOL!!!!!! in CB. Even in jest, it's still bl00dy irritating.

I actually don't see why the thread was deleted (but I hadn't looked at it for some time so don't know if it got abusive), I like to see the comments, they're interesting... sort of.

It's democracy gone mad!!!!!!!!!!
no just interesting, but i only saw it last when it had 41 replies so it may have done later but seem to generate great interest
Re the exclamation marks CD, you can tell Quinlad is about to burst a blood vessel over it due to the fact his finger obviously got tired holding down the shift key to do 'em- hence the random 1's in there ;-)
So would a hole in the middle of the high street full of excrement, jack. That's not necessarily a good thing.
now i look at it YES yesterday it had 41 replies in the afternoon alone so a great deal has been deleted it now around 25
True Quin. But if you don't let people have their say then you can't use satire or sarcasm to reproach them and then your wit wouldn't be quite as entertaining. (There's probably a hidden compliment in there somewhere, well hidden I imagine).

When I last saw it, there were the usual arguments but I don't mind seeing those because at least it opens the floor up to some sort of debate. Not that I think some people are able to change their opinion even given glaring facts that oppose what they 'know.'
So why exactly would you expect a website to involve democracy? They can remove anything they like. Racist threads do seem to get abusive, for some reason. The thread on the nursery teacher has also gone, perhaps for legal reasons
Strangethe Answerbank home page says

"Ask questions, get answers. No matter how outrageous or practical your question may be, you will get answers from real people"
Question Author
Yeah sure, as long as your question doesn't mention anything slightly controversial which may offend British hating immigrants.
i think some threads are pulled for legal reasons like threads mentioning ongoing court cases or links to them
And as long as it conforms to the Terms of Use.

Like this one:

9. You agree that any posting or contribution you make to such forums will not be defamatory, discriminatory, racist, obscene, offensive, threatening or in breach of any copyright or in any way unlawful or objectionable.

Or this one:

11. The AnswerBank reserves the right to... delete any posting that we feel does not conform to the intended spirit of The AnswerBank service.

It's fairly standard legal compliance. But then, you know that when you sign up. So bleating about it afterwards when your comments are removed isn't that bright.
Cheers, China. I'll take that. :-)

I don't mind the usual arguments either. They do open up debate. I was just trying to get them out of them way early (and depict them as accurately as possible), so we don't end up covering the same ground for 80 posts.

Actually, I say accurately - I've just realised I forgot to end each one with 'End of.'

My apologies.

End of.

sad reporters/whingers!
Just as it is a mistake to stop the BNP giving a press conference, it is also a mistake to delete posts from BNP supporters on here.

Far better to let their words and hatred to be displayed so that the rest of us can judge them for what they are.
Question Author
Where's the hate in wanting British jobs for British people?
There seem sto be more hate directed towards the BNP than eminating from it.
the essence of debate is to agree/disagree/learn from others opinions. All opinions being valid for the process. No one to intimidate others by threats.
Question Author
All opinions being valid you say? It appears all opinions except the BNPs judging by the censorship.
I have just looked and there are still several posts remaining about the BNP so it is not an attempt to silence the BNP.

This thread is proof that the subject of the BNP is still open for debate.
Perhaps the ED would be better employed reading through and answering some of the Emails sent by ABers complaining of all the many faults with the site?
