isn't it about time
a list of MPs who HAVE NOT claimed for silly things such a light bulbs or a duckhouse, were published in the DT, then we could sort the wheat from the chaffe, or is anyone in the Commons "clean"???

I have suffered for years the site and sound of Dennis Skinner M.P for Bolsover....spouting off and pointing at the Opposition bench saying " those, on the other side, the Tories, with their snouts in the trough"
To whom will he point now, or will he just "shut up"

The Telegraph is going to publish a complete list tomorrow morning - the same as Parliament's own list but without the black bits. You will quite likely find that many MPs - probably most of them - are clean.
I can imagine sqad's disappointment to find Skinner practises what he preaches... many other ABers may be for the same sort of disillusionment, finding their MPs are honest.

Joy...policies are important and it is a pity that they have become hidden, but, in my opinion, policies will not be as important as they should in an Election, just that the electorate are fed up with Gordon Brown and the Labour party and want them out.

I have yet to see a positive approach from David Cameron where he would take us, I have listened to, and admire Vince Cable but truthfully speaking, me like a lot of the electorate at present, are very unsure of just who to vite for, at the minute it is a case of scoring "brownie points" Blair was an excellent speaker but a slimeball with it, Brown was at the back of the queue when charisma was handed out and was never elected by the people, you may think I am going on personalities here, not true, I believe for the people to listen to you, it takes a lot of charisma which I would say Cameron has, but what are his policies?

Another good point Joy........the Tories will have to come up with Policies some time in the next 10months, but as I said, in my opinion policies will not figure highly in the next election....the electorate just want Labour OUT. Stupid I know but I have seen this throughout my life.......if the electorate is p1ssed off with you, then you are history.

'Brown was never elected by the people' - no British prime ministers are ever elected by the people. People vote for constituency MPs; those MPs elect their party leaders; the leader of the biggest party in parliament becomes prime minister. Brown got the job in exactly the same way as Thatcher, Major, Blair and all the rest: his local constituency voted for him, his party did the rest.
I would have said I would, at one time have voted for the party that was doing something for me, but alas, the country is in so much debt with Browns borrowing, it's pay-back time for whoever gets in, no doubt come the next GE we will be "courted" by empty promises, what else is left but them?

I believe Brown should step down and make way for a new leader, he has damaged the Labour Party beyond repair as did his predecessor before him with "New "Labour" we need change, but out of an average of 650 MPs, rotten apples will always get in the barrell.

Joy......if Brown steps down, there will be a GE and Labour will be wiped out. At least if the Labour M.P's hang on, they will get paid until the next election, Turkeys voting for Xmas.

sqad my father was a miner before going into the RAF and coming out as a radar technician, later to be a TV and Radio engineer, he would turn in his grave if he could witness this fiasco from a Labour Goverment, in mining communities, labour was the party who looked after the working man, my husband was a strong Thatcherite, I say that in past tense for her and not him,,lol
I admired the womans strengths although I was never a fan of her policies, Blair is from the North and his father was prominent in the Tory party, so new labour was very much half tory policies and some labour ideals, as yet I haven' t heard of a reason to vote for any one party

John Major went to the country representing the Tories with massive and rising unemployment and high interest rates. The Tories lead by John Major were returned. I voted Labour.
At that point I said that we will never see a Socilaist Government in again....ever......Tony Blair knew that and took the Labour Party to the middle ground of Politics and he was elected at the next GE.
I also came from a poor working class Labour background where the Unions and their representative were local heroes.....but that was then........and now is now.

sqad I agree totally, the Unions did irrapairable damage to Labour, I remember it well, I wouldn't want Labour to be entrenched in that again, but I haven't a clue what this Labour stands for, that's what I was trying to get across, my Dad would have been astounded by the changing of minds on a daily basis by Brown ie; the Iraq enquiry, he has lost his way completley while Cameron brays for a GE but with what policies, I don't think a GE would be good at this present time, but a new Labour leader elected by the MPs would
