We helped to oust their first (secular) revolutionary leader (Massa Doc, check spelling) in the 1950s, to keep control of their oil.
As such we helped to return the Shah to power who was followed by his equally (if not more) brutal son to power.
We also support Israel and turn a blind eye to their incursions and attacks whilst tacitly supporting their right to possess nuclear arms.

Well, we did invade that country in 1941 and forced its leader to abdicate.

The US haven't invaded yet, so I guess that makes us the most hated.

So, within living memory, we have

- Invaded their country
- Deposed their Shah
- Stolen their oil
- Installed a puppet Shah of our own
- Sent a spy to be ambassador
- Entered their territorial waters without permission (twice)
- Armed the country they are at war with
- Been implicated in terrorist bombings in Ahwaz
- Arrested their Diplomats
- Allowed Shia holy sites to be destroyed in Iraq.

But apart from that, why do they not like us?
