Do you think this will pursuade the Japs and Norwegians to stop hunting and organise whale watching trips instead?

I think the Japanese just catch them because they like eating them, and it's hard to change p eople's tastes. But others hunt them more for the profits, and if there's more profit to be made by not hunting them, yes, they may decide to take the line that suits their wallets better. The same argument applies to human encroachment on to safari parks in Africa or tiger territory in India.

How about combining the two? You watch them for a bit, and then you get to harpoon them. Now there's a money spinner.

Both Japan and Norway subsidise their whaling industries anyway so unfortunately it doesn't look like it's about the money. So no it won't.

I wish it would. I have been whale watching 3 times and it is so amazing. One of the places was off Iceland yet they still continue to slaughter these fabulous creatures.
