Filament light bulb obsoletion
8 Answers
I have some night lights with integral sensor using Small Eddison Screw, 7 watt 230 volt light bulbs. I want some spares for the future. Am I right in thinking these types of bulbs will not be outlawed by the recent European directive to outlaw high wattage filament light bulbs in favour of energy saving bulbs? I'm sure someone out there will clue me!

But the basic principle is that high energy bulbs will be phased out when there is a low energy alternative so I don't think these will be affected by this wave of changes but they might be affected next year or soon after.

Until they make energy saving bulbs the same size and shape as the standard filament bulbs, I think there will be continued trouble for the consumer.
For example have you tried ballancing a chandelier's shade on these queer shaped bulbs?
Or is there an energy saving bulb that will light the inside of a fridge?
