A response to Shawnee

Shawnee has a habit of posting a question and closing it immediately. As there is little point in this I have removed those questions and quote him below:

Do you remember the old site at all Shawnee? I remember that, especially towards the end, it slowed to a halt and crashed regularly. The site generally deals with weekend traffic very well now. The new site is fast and only crashes due to unforeseen circumstances - sadly we are yet to implement the crystal ball node yet.

I am unsure if you read my post but one of the toys we are giving you later this evening is a email notification system - this is something the community has asked to be reinstated and it will be shortly - so to you "sound-bites" comment I can only say "tosh!"

The other is a Swear-filter. Again, something requested by the community which we are delivering - I am unsure what your actual criticism of this could be?

How do I close a question. I made a silly mistake once and it's there seemingly for ever.
Why send emails to clog up my in box when I can click on to 'questions I asked, answered or subscribed to'?
How will you filter out swearing?
AB is now is much better than AB then.
Could you remove 'report' from every post and replace with stars for good replies.

Also - why is the Subscribed Threads panel restricted to only four posts?

Finally - is it possible when clicking on Latest Post for it to go to the end of the thread instead of the first page?

as they can see both the name and the email address the username is registered under I guess that could be a give away.

For example, my profile says my name is Mark, bit of a give away that I'm male!

It most likely won't effect you very much then Tallulah! There should be an "off" switch as well. We are replacing naughty words with either stars or less naughty words. We will create a thanks/star system soon, but it will not replace the report button.

A.Guest, The Sub.Posts pod is restricted because of real-estate issues! we can't have it much bigger without trimming the page. We do need to sort out latest posts and dumping you to the last page though.

shawnee, why don't you just report the filth? The facility is on every post.
Filth is mainly in the chatterbank section and I can't see the relevance of that section on a site called The AnswerBank anyway.
Presumably, if people used google a bit more for the Sunday Paper Crosswords general knowledge crosswords, the site would speed up at the weekend, especially as finished grids are posted by various people.

Tallulah,the chatterbank section was reinstated due to the 'chatter' that took up all of the Body and Soul section. It is probably the 2nd most posted on section of AB after Q&P.
If people in Q&P didn't insist on asking others for the answers to their quizzes there would be less trouble at weekends with the slow down. Your suggestion to use Google could apply to every single post in Q&P.

Shawnee,if you feel revulsion at the site why bother using it? Find another one to frequent instead.

There's not much filth in Q&P.
I agree that most Q&P questions could just as easily be googled which is what I do.
I mostly feel scornful of the stuff people ask.

All you seem to do is moan. You don't have to look at the 'filth' in chatterbank. Do you really think that you are so important to the site that the Ed is going to jump to your demands?
