Any suggestions for what to take to a new Mum who's a bit down?

I'm going to visit a friend who has just had her second baby. She had a section, her toddler has been quite unwell, and her own mother is ill also. I'm going round tomorrow to take the baby out for a couple of hours so that she can have a sleep and was wondering what to take round to her. Her husband is very helpful, but he too is worn out.
I had wondered about a few microwave meals so that they could at least eat without having too much bother, but I would welcome any other suggestions from anyone out there.
Thanks in advance

Bring spme takeawaay, I've been in and out of hospital all my life, nothing like a bit of K.F.C or pizza to cheer you up.
I'd take round a casserole already cooked just to heat through and some scented candles and body lotions for relaxing.

I'll think about the takeaway, but suspect that they have ben living on them for the past couple of weeks. Maybe next time I go.
Casserole and scented candles sound good.
Hi lady,
they're both lucky to have you as a friend! You will already be helping loads taking the baby out, how about some magazines, chocs & a bottle of something? x

Thanks everton...know what you mean there.....maybe I will consider the chip shop after all.

Thanks for your suggestions too, Sachs. I'll certainly put chocs on my list, but I think they're just too knackered for magazines or a bottle of the hard stuff.
Having 'proper' cooked meals made for you is one of the best things when you have a newborn, a lasagne, curry, shepherds pie etc and having the washing up done after. What a lovely friend you are!

Just to update everyone who replied....I went round with some lasagne, apple pie and chocolate brownies and you'd think I'd given her the world. As the weather was (and still is) so awful, I stayed there looking after the baby (beautiful little boy) whilst she sloped off to bed for a much needed sleep. (The toddler is much better now and back at nursery.)
Thanks for all your suggestions. I'm going back to do it again on Friday, so any further ideas would be welcome.

you are so lovely your friend is very lucky to have you
Wonder if you live by me? - could do with a friend like you!
yes, move next to me.. I love you already ;o)
Seriously, have you thought of offering to take some ironing away (don't know if you have the time to do any extra ironing)?
maybe make a gift pamper basket so when you go around mum can go for a pamper session in her bath etc
sherr a friend of mine did that for me, I was very grateful
Ironing is a good idea. My friend came round and done all mine when my son was born.

Ironing it is then!

And I'll have a look for a pamper basket.

I'm sure all of you good folks would do the same.....after all, how many of your friends ask for help ? You know they really nned it when they ask.
When my friend had just had her baby and feeling low I used to pop into the kitchen and wash all the pots and give the sink and worktops a good clean up - she was always grateful for that. I imagine ironing would be great too as sherrardk suggests, that piles up at such a speed.
