Equality Bill
Has anybody read this?
http://www.equalities...rFuture_may09_acc.pdf
So far as I can tell, if you are a white heterosexual male not of pensionable age with no religion and are able-bodied, it will be perfectly legal to discriminate against you.
As 'equality' is the state of being equal, how is discriminating against certain men equality?
Is this bill a way of wiping out meritocracy?

Rightly or wrongly, they have decided that the level enjoyed by white men is the level they want everyone to get to.
You are in effect saying, white men are being discriminated against because they are not being discriminated against.

Not really, what you have to do is to make sure that no-one is unfairly discriminated against. What mustn't happen is that you start disciminating against any particular group in order to try and redress an imbalance.

Six years old, but I'd bet my back teeth that very little has changed. If we know that blacks and Asians are routinely overlooked in the jobs market, what other way apart from positive discrimination are we going to level the playing field???
