Crimen Sollicitationis was enforced for 20 years by Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger before he became the Pope.
It instructs bishops on how to deal with allegations of child abuse against priests and has been seen by few outsiders.
Critics say the document has been used to evade prosecution for sex crimes.
Crimen Sollicitationis was written in 1962 in Latin and given to Catholic bishops worldwide who are ordered to keep it locked away in the church safe.
It instructs them how to deal with priests who solicit sex from the confessional. It also deals with "any obscene external act ... with youths of either sex."
It imposes an oath of secrecy on the child victim, the priest dealing with the allegation and any witnesses.
Breaking that oath means excommunication from the Catholic Church.

Pure conjecture on evrtons part as he said he didnt think , meaning exactly that he didnt know for sure.
" There was a film called "The Bridge" made in the 1950s about it (I havent seen it) the first part of your question is pertinent, the rest I view as irrelevant and nonsencical. "
He comments on a film he hasnt seen and then says he views the rest of my post as irelevant and nonsensical.
In my opinion thats opinionated , pompous and mocking me by intimating that i am also irrelevant.
That may not be your take on it zeuhl.
But as he was posting to me and about me i feel that my opinion on how i feel should really take importance over yours.
Im sure in my position you too would be more interested in your own opinion than mine.

Does he say he wanted to join? (Ideally I'd need to read it in German to see what his words were.) If the law said he had to, then all 'voluntary' means is he obeyed the law without waiting for someone to point a gun at him. Who knows, I might have done the same myself; fortunately I have never been put to the test. I just don't regard someone's actions at the age of 14, during a war, as important. He's got much bigger questions to answer.
Jno give it up he joined voluntarily. Drag the dead horse to another arguement please .
Zeuhl yu say the nazi thing muddys the waters but on the contrary i say should that be forgotten about because the covering up of paedophilia which he undoubtedly did , takes moree importance?
Is that like saying do we try a anzi war criminal for shooting a man dead last year or for commanding a death camp in the second world war where he executed thousands?
Does one or should one take preference?
Arent both wrong?

Chaps/Ladies I think this is a really interesting debate and something I've been thinking about since I saw a number headlines relating to the topics X-Ray identified at the start.
I think JNO's request/question was perfectly valid and indeed if anyone knows of an on-line site for reference I for one would be keen to read it. Can anyone help with that?
And just for the record I think the questions/comments from the floor have been perfectly valid and appropriate. From this observers view it seems that X-ray is spoiling for a fight, which is a shame because the subject matter is genuinely very interesting and could, if allowed, be an engaging debate.
