The Tories strongly pushed for the TV debates, but Cameron did not exactly shine. Will they be regretting starting this, having got their wish they may have aided the Lib Dems in thwarting their ambitions.

The actual programme was very dull (as could be predicted), but the result, Clegg doing well, and Cameron not doing as well as expected, is interesting.
First, I didn't watch it (we had visitors)

Overall I think it is a significant boost to LibDems just for them to be positioned as an equal partner in this sort of forum, a status they don't enjoy in Parliament. All Clegg had to do was 'hold his own' against the others and by all accounts he did that.

Any real electoral advantage to this 'promotion' may only be longer term.
Ok no one messed up but im still glad it was on and would certainly watch more of them. I prefer it to the bickering jeers that is PM Q's. A lot of people i know dont watch because of that. I hope they are a permanent fixture.

God awful set though!
I disagree I thought Cameron shone extremely well, he did better than I thought. Clegg also did extremely well but lacked substance and Brown - well its obvious why he didn't want the debate.
Geezer

“Olddutch, it's a TV debate, not the actual election!” - well spotted and even I’d spotted it too !

The effects of the debate … may well contribute to bringing a hung parliament into being.

We’re agreed Clegg romped home in the debate, did the business and in this debate he got the man of the match.

What would make you vote anything other than Tory then ?
.
Am I the only AnswerBank user who considered a three-way one and a half hour Party Political Broadcast - whilst the pubs were open - a total non-starter?
I'd vote for any party who'd get us back to what we last agreed on Europe, ie the common market.
Geezer

I'll drink to that but none of the big 3 parties are going to do s*d all about it - why arent you UKipping then - and whats your recipe for getting back to a CM ?
