Should this Tory candidate have been suspended as a member of the conservative party for making what have been described as offensive gay comments?

/// Mr Lardner wrote: "With experience as a teacher and a believer in parental rights and responsibilities, as your MP I will support the rights of parents and teachers to refuse to have their children taught that homosexuality is 'normal' behaviour or an equal lifestyle choice to traditional marriage.///

Have we now lost our right of opinion and free speech?

What lie would that be?
Piping is not the norm. It cannot possibly be or w would all die out.

Just as homosexuals should have a right to be what they want also should people have a right to their own views.

Most of you lefites on here are all pro muslim. They hate "men who are good with colours" or "ladies in comfortable shoes" so how do you get your thinking around that ?
By all means, have your right to Free Speech............but the corollary of that is that I can state that the man is a bigot and has NO place in a legislative body, which is what he would have if elected.

FYI - The only way to prevent homosexuality is for heterosexuals to stop breeding !

There is NO definitive 'gay gene' and the way that people are brought up seems to have little or no influence on the likelihood of them 'becoming gay'.

Teaching children about Hitler does not automatically influence them into wanting to invade Poland !
Ha Jack....good answer.

We'll stop breeding to keep the homophobes happy....
"Piping is not the norm. It cannot possibly be or w would all die out."

But again you've misunderstood what's meant by 'normal'. Nobody is saying that homosexuality is common or the average sexual practice - that's quite obviously not true. People just mean 'normal' in the sense that we should teach kids it's okay to like someone of the same gender and you shouldn't feel like a freak if you do.
This argument is getting pushed towards the rocks of 'semantics'.
Homosexuality may not be the 'norm', but it IS normal (especially to those who are).

And yet again, those who abhor the idea of homosexuals and their 'distasteful practises' demonstrate a prurient interest in describing those very acts..........

I don't find myself giving a great deal of time or thought to things I despise.........
Distasteful practises that many a heterosexual couple participate in....
Very true, ummmm.
Isn't it funny how THAT particular issue is roundly ignored by the anti-gay brigade ? :o)
Along with being whipped...weeing on each other...dressing in a nappy....and so on.

Things that I consider to not be normal...but I except each to their own.
Steady, ummmm...........! :oS
Un-smegging-believable....

We have candidates who get suspended over something they say, yet they quite happily allow those in who've got their snouts in public coffers milking us dry.
No sacking for free speech. Sex education should stick to basics; reproduction!

Deviant practises should not be taught in schools. Next will be students encouraged to display on rubber dollys.
I'm sure you thought that made sense when you typed it, Tambo...........but I'm afraid it doesn't.

Sex Eucation in schools ought to focus on emotional aspects; especially the right of young girls to resist the pressure and to say "no" !
So we shouldn't teach our children about respect when it comes to an emotional language?

Most children know what it takes to reproduce....

Another classic from you Tambo..
can't find another way of re-phrasing except using 'suspended' instead of sacking. Too late for me now to take English lessons :(
Good upbringing will teach children respect - parents job!
That was the only part that made sense...........
I think it is appropriate that alternative lifestyles are acknowledged, but defining them in terms of normal/ abnormal is probably misleading.... I think it still might be acceptable to say that the alternatives to conventional m/f relationships can result in predjudice and therefore are still not equivalent. Most of my gay friends who have children would be happier if their children chose a conventional lifestyle just because it is easier.
I think if relationships must be taught it could be done in away that stresses values, caring, consideration rather than the small matter of what people do in bed...(after all what percentage of your life is spent in sexual activity ...(Honestly those of you who like to post on anything naughty ... not in fantasy land) trust me I have been asked to do far worse by the men in my life than the women...

At the moment it is not an equal lifestyle choice regardless of what the legislation says My partner is still excuded from many social invitiations and her own family still think it is a phase she is going through....(she's 63 this year)
I would be happy to speak up for any parent who didn't want homosexuality taught as an equal option to heterosexuality until society is ready to accept it as such.
Surely it is enough to say it's not wrong only different and for the teacher to leave the door open for individual students to explore the subject however they feel appropriate.
So regards mr Tory... ill advised.. ill timed but probably a lot of people would be agreeing with him may not affect the vote much too many more important issues.
Why can't homosexuals just get on with their lives instead of always playing the victim when anyone dares to question of the legitimacy of their sexual preferences. I am heterosexual but don't feel the need to claim my sexuality is normal or shout to the world about my orientation.
Excellent answer rowanwitch..............excellent ! :o)
