Whereas I agree that anyone visiting a mosque or any other Religious building should respect the particular dress code.

What I don't agree with that these pupils were forced to attend or be marked as a truant, as regards paying for the privilege that takes the biscuit. If there is a charge then the visit should be voluntary.

What I would like to know, was the trip the mind child of the Headmaster or not?

Does Molly have to believe in anything at all ?

Surely one should only believe in that which has been demonstrably shown to be true.

Otherwise, we end up believing in ...

Father Christmas

the Tooth Fairy

a supernatural super-deity called "God"

the Easter Bunny

Elvis is still alive and living in Swindon

Etc, etc.
I daresay there are lot of so called Christian , Catholic,Jewish ,Bapitist and uncle Uncle Tom Cobbleigh and all followers who treat there wives badly .Bad treatment of wives( or husbands) isn't solely an Islamic hobby .
With your narrow minded views Molly you are never going anywhere to see what rich and diverse cultures this world has and you will be the poorer for it .
well I certainly dont believe in molly ;)

stop that.. I believe in Father Christmas!
me too !
of cause I don't pontificate the raping of women, you say you are learning about Catholicism, Judaism and Protestant religions, yet you claim you would never want to go to any of these places?

What a ridiculously narrow-minded attitude by this girl and her mother. It was a school trip for the whole class, so what else would she do if she didn't go? She objects to wearing a headscarf and a knee length skirt which is really pathetic. To say they were being made to wear Muslim dress is utter rubbish, are they seriously saying that no-one but Muslims ever wears headscarves or long skirts? Nowhere in the letter mentions "dressing as a Muslim", but it makes better headlines if it can be twisted to have a go at Muslims. Typical DM. To go into St Peter's in Rome, women have to have their shoulders covered and men can't wear shorts. Does that mean they're being forced to wear Catholic clothing? Of course not, it just means modest attire is required, exactly as in this case. She missed a very interesting visit, her loss.
Helen, i still wouldn't choose to go to a muslim country, but i said 'i wouldn't want to go to a muslim country' which doesn't mean i won't if i have to, i'll just have to put up with it and hope i'm getting paid lots of money to have msot of my rights taken away from me.

Bobbi, i was saying how eevery but those lazy people should be treated fairly, why should hard working people have their money taken off them, to pay for perfectly fit and healthy people to doss around all day?
I definatly think that molly is a

So the Muslims rape their women.

Catholics rape other people's children.

Is there a bit of a theme developing here ??
Molly,

If you choose, at the tender age of 16, if that's how old you really are, to go into news and put a point across, you must be ready for critiscm and debate if folk here dont agree/cant quite understand what point it is you're trying to make.
You are entitled to an opinion, but dont expect people to go along with you, young lady.

and the lovely redhelen may have a point, peeps
If you want to visit religious buildings then you are expected to adhere to the dress code. Even I dress for the occasion if I'm visiting a mosque - or the Vatican - or a Buddhist temple - and I'm a devout atheist - but I do it simply because if I don't, I won't be allowed in. In this instance, the trip should have been optional. I certainly don't agree with Molly when she suggests keeping children off 'sick'. If parents have strong objections, they shouldn't be obliged to lie in order to keep their child's school attendance record intact. They should have been given a choice.
Hang on Susie ...

If Molly does not with to conform to a Muslim dress code ... she is narrow minded.

If Muslims do not wish to conform to the dress code of the place they choose to live ... they are merely exercising their cultural rights.

Help me out here !!
And only the other day Molly you were asking what the word was for people with views like yours here - prejudiced remember?
Molly, sorry kiddo, but eventually you will sicken people on here with your juvenile views, you have to learn the the art of debate, yours is "I'm right, youre wrong" end of..
Wehad a work experience girl at work in march, she was in Y10, she spent 2 weeks with us and she wore a headscarf the whole time, she couldn't do the usual 9-5 work experience though, she left at 3pm every afternoon monday - friday to attend her degree course on the history of Islam which ran at her Mosque from 4pm to 7pm every week day and on a saturday morning and she had to attend this course for 7 years, at the end she would have a degree in islamic studies. All the girls from he Mosque had to do this course when they reached 14. I was quite amazed at the discipline of it all.
I am anti all religion so I refuse to take part in this discussion.....oops too late
moderate attire, not a full head scarf etc,

jj i don't believe in any of them.

i just don't want to go to a country that abuses women so much and where the laws allow it (msost if not all christian countries treat women fairly)

helen, i've never read the qu'ran, but we were taught it in social ethics, when the substitute had got the wrong work so told us about muslims, even though we aren't studying them.

What makes you think i'm not a 16 year old girl?
