why am i looking at these pictures?
a picture of 12 people in dewsbury some of whom appear to be a family group, 4 people in the picture are wearing a veil. This is being compared to a picture of 6 people in lahore, none of whom are wearing a veil ...... whats the point?
The Pakistan picture has 4 women with none of them wearing Burqas. The Dewsbury picture has 8 women with 3 of them wearing Burqas and one a Hijab. Hardly indicative of a trend for either location.
Apparently outside of the rural areas its quite common for women in Pakistan to not wear Burqas.
I could go out any time of day where I live (South East London) and give any one of these pictures. '5 white women' 5 white men' 5 women in burkas' '5 muslim women without burkas' 5 of any combination in fact. What is your point exactly?
Have I expressed an opinion ? As usual you are jumping to the conclusion that I disapprove. The fact that I regularly see similar scenes indicates it is fairly normal. . Have you been to Lahore Gromit ? If not how can you say it is not typical ? You ask me what is the point ? You have answered the question yourselves. You now accept the fact that such Islaminisation of the SE and towns like Dewsbury is the norm, possibly more so than Muslim Lahore. That was the point .
I accept nothing of the kind. I have not been to Lahore, but I have been to Dewsbury this year, and I can tell you first hand, that it has not been Islamified. You probably could find a burka clad woman, but they are greatly in the minority.
Gromit . So what qualifies you to comment on Lahore ?
I spent several years in the Arab world, I have several Pakistani friends and I have studied the Koran. So I think I can compare the two cultures dispassionately . Can you ?
I have made no comment on Lahore other than to doubt the picture you have provided is a typical street scene. I am more intersted in challenging your untrue stTement that's Dewsbury has need Islamitised. I go there a lot, and while there is a Muslim community, it has not Islamitised the town.
Gromit you are wriggling you made a clear statement which you can not back up .
# a not typical picture of Lahore. Is it supposed to prove something or just confirm your prejudices? #
/// You think TV crews go to representative schools? or schools that back up the story they want to tell? ///
TV cameras go into classrooms for a number of reasons, a local school putting on a particular event, reporting on exam results, a new addition to a school building, etc, etc, they do not necessary have a particular axe to grind.
