It would seem that the Tories are going to shelve their manifesto promise (to scrap the EU Human Rights and introduce a UK one ). Instead they have given way to the Liberals who want to strengthen the HR Act which no doubt will allow potential terrorists to claim for wrongful arrest as well as letting them stay in this country.
I'm not surprised because once Labour had signed up for the HR Act we were stuck with it. We can not get out of it without the agreement of our EU partners. So it was an empty promise by the Tories and now the Liberals are calling the tune we can look foward to an even softer approach on crime , terrorism and immigration. At least they are keeping their promises so the wet brigade should be happy.

I certainly hope not, I voted for them because these are the things that matter the most to me and to the rest of the Conservative voters, not to be told by the losing party what they should step backwards on.
The only people who can logically object to having their rights as humans protected are non-humans.
I think that should the government be so minded they can repeal the HR Act .After all it is a piece of UK legislation. The problem seems to be the European Convention on HR to which we are a signatory and that is where the problem with our european "partners" lies and from which were we seek to escape the difficulties would appear.
We could ignore any law we don't like, just like the rest of the EU, our problem is, being British, we tend to abide by the rules even if we don't agree with them. The rest of the EU has no such incumberance.

No one in their right mind is against "Human rights" pers se, but what we have is Ooman Rights where the rights of the masses are sacraficed regularly for scum, that's the problem. I think the Tories where trying to address this. Before the ooman rights act we had common sense, now it's a complete shambles with criminal scum riding rough shod over the masses at any percived breach of their rights. What about my right to protect my property and family? I can't put barbed wire round my back fence in case some pond life cuts himself. Common sense worked better.

It seems to me the only thing the Tories seem to be tough about is repealing the fox hunting act but of course foxes can't fight back . A number of their back benchers are demanding the repeal of the act as was in their manifesto. Not a word about criminals or terrorists. No! but let's have our human rights to tear a few thousand foxes to bits.
