No we have some beautiful places in Yorkshire, although my daughter lives 'down south' and wouldn't come back here to live. I have always wanted to live somewhere on the coast, and i must admit it tends to be much colder up here, so the south coast has been on my wish list. Having said that I don't think I'll ever move away from Yorkshire.

Like it or not, it's a fact of life that organisations have to pay a lot for very senior staff and have a retention package. The move is designed to save money. He'd get reloaction costs whether he had a flat for himself or a bigger house for his family in Manchester.
But as you've already told us you don't pay for a TV licence I'm a bit puzzled as to why you feel so strongly about the pacakge paid to this guy. There will be several hundred other people in Manchester earning more than him- execs of other organisations, self employed business owners, top barristers, top investment bankers, footballers, musicians. models, drug dealers...
