Yes, America and Australia are really in trouble now aren't they. Just think how well they would be doing if it was not for us (sarcasm !)

Anyway it was not just us who went to America. The Spanish went up the west coast (San Diago etc), much of the centre of the USA used to be owned by the French (before the Lousiana purchase) and the east coast had all sorts of nationalities arriving from Europe (many parts of the East USA used to speak German, Dutch, Spanish, Italian, French etc).

Why do you think the places in the USA are, or were, called San Francisco, New Orleans, New Amsterdam etc ....because of the Spanish, French and Dutch etc.
