/// Dr Dreger and her colleagues are concerned that medical attempts to prevent homosexuality will arise in the future if sexual orientation is found to be determined by human biology.///

/// 'Evidence that homosexual orientation is inborn, could very well lead to new means of pathologisation [treating it like a medical condition] and prevention,' they warned in a recent paper.///

One picks a contriversal subject to create healthy discussion (80 answers so far) and all some posters like redman41 can post are abusive answers such as this, and I haven't even posted my own personal opinion on the subject.

/// Get alife AOG ! Good grief where on earth have you been residing all your life !
If you are a married man God help your wife as you are the most miserable man that I have ever come across on this site ///

Which only goes to prove his dangerous in built aggression, perhaps his parents given a choice of whether they wanted a horrible aggressive little runt such as him or a perfectly balanced individual, would have only been too willing to take the pill.

AOG

Over 80 posts, but you concentrate on the one that had a go at you.

Ignore that, and give us YOUR views.
Squad - that's always my way, and it usually works!

vibrasphere - "... what are you going to say?" Hopefully, you will say something along the lines of "I will let nature take its course thankyou, no-one has made me God yet ..."

My eldest and youngest daughters both have magnificent curls, which as women they apprecuare. As teenagers, they moaned daily that they were not born with straight hair. How would I have felt if I knew that their physical characteristics had been chosen from a catalogue in advance of their birth?

AOG - I'm not sure that the phrase 'perfectly balanced individual' and 'only too willing to take the pill' actually belong in the same sentence - they are surely opposite ends of the argument?
Some say its God's way of limiting the population. Evolutionists would say a self destruct gene has been operating.

We can no longer rely on world wars with hand to hand fighting to reduce the population.

Maybe global warming was introduced to keep the numbers down.

AOG...I agree with sp1814....that was minor abuse for AB.

Vibra....that is not the question.....one wouldn´t have the choice, one would be made to take the anti gay gene tablet............don´t ask me how!

I'd like expansion on the 'whys'...........

My question wasn't an exercise in 'Homosexual Bashing' or would the world be better without homosexuals or any other anti-homosexual issues you would care to come up with.

It was a controversial question that I hoped would create a discussion without any shocked rebuffs, and at the most I didn't expect personal insults because I dared to post a question.

I think quite a few took this question too personally, but this was not my intention.

I could have quite easily posted a question such as, 'given the chance before the birth of your child of picking it's sex' would you? This is different from saying if it's a girl I don't want it.

Or, Given the chance of being able to pick whether or not your child would be very clever, I am sure a large amount of parents would. This is different from saying would you reject your child because he or she was dim.

Which brings us back to the question, if a pill could be given to make sure your child was born heterosexual would you take it? Which once again is alot different from a child being born a homosexual and the parents saying "I don't want that child because he/she is homosexual.
Interesting but this will never come about. They would never prove they could do it. It's natural to be attracted to the same sex, could it not just be natures way of keeping the population down? So busy interfering with these things, live and let live. \Im not going to spend my days worrying about things that will never happen.
With all my heart I hope not vibrasphere.

A healthy human race has always depended on natural selection. Yes, that means we get the psychos, the idiots, the deformed and the forgotten, but that is how nature has made us.

I for one shudder at the thought that anyone would see themselves as arbiter of future birth traits of any kind.

We are all human, we all share this planet, we all put our trousers on one leg at a time.

No-one should ever try and determine what our children will be by anything other than as much love and advice, and as many chances in life as we can give them. That's the way it was, is, and should be.
Do prospective parents really bother themselves with 'what-if-he/she-turns-out-gay?' worries.........alongside the usual "please just let him/her have all her fingers and toes" fears ?

How many parents, on here, were terrified that their progeny may turn out gay during the 9 months of pregnancy ?

And if they did, what on earth did they imagine may be the consequences of having a gay child; to them and the child ?
all I ever wanted was for my kids to be happy. and who knows what their happiness will consist of?

sp1814

Since you are the only homosexual on the site that I know of for sure, I am going to ask you a question but I don't wish for you to take offence.

'At an early age you were given the choice of being a homosexual or a heterosexual what would you have chosen?

But of course I suppose you could not really give an answer to this, being already an homosexual, well have you ever wondered what it would be like to be heterosexual?
JTH

Answer to first paragraph......NO
Answer to second paragraph.....None.
Answer to third paragraph.......that is more difficult to answer and is personal decision
Jack: no, no and who knows? How about you? Did you ever think life would be easier if you were straight? As I understand it, gays (especially males) can encounter a wide range of response from nothing at all to silly jokes to fatal gay-bashing. Would reasonable parents want to spare their children this possibility? At the moment, I can't imagine pregnant women worrying about it. But if they were actually offered a pill that would guarantee them a heterosexual child, would some think it was a good idea?

Serious, non-rhetorical question.
