Burning of the Koran
Why is it when Muslims are burning western countries flags' there is not a peep from the western world but when someone in the Western world threatens to burn a copy of the Koran (which like it or not is just a book) all hell breaks loose from the Muslim world.

The burning of any other religion's holy book probably wouldn’t have even got into the mainstream news. So why does the burning of the Koran by a group of nobodies get into almost every news outlet in the world and warrant a quote from the the US Attorney General, who said that the idea is "idiotic and dangerous"? Why should such a silly stunt be 'dangerous'?...

Oh I think the American MidWest could be guaranteed to get a bit grumpy, look what they did to Beatles records! I particularly like the irony in the name of the church who's pastor intends to burn the Korans, it is...........The Dove World Outreach Center, all they needed in there was olive branch as well and they'd have the full set, to ignore!
Because fundamentalist Muslims demand that their religion be afforded the utmost respect and when it isn't, like petulant children, they make a concerted effort to demonstrate their self-righteous indignation.
Incidentally, I don't agree with burning books, and I think the action proposed by this Christian group relegates them intellectually to the level of the people they are condemning.

Hilary Clinton's very public statement that she has received 100% condemnation of this planned act from leaders of faith and non-faith communities across the US gives a strong message that this is not a US-approved action. However, General Petraus says already that there are signs that if it goes ahead, there will be retribution from the extremists against the troops in Afghanistan, and this is entirely predictable. The Dove crowd can't see further than the end of their own back yard IMO, and if they go ahead, I seriously hope that the minister and those who light the fire will be arrested for sedition, or whatever the equivalent crime is in America. It will solve nothing, it will prove nothing, other than a small-minded group of people taking what they think it a stand but will potentially bring huge lashback from Islamic fundamentalists across the world.
On the plus side (if there is one) - I was told that if anyone has to destroy Muslim holy words, they must be destroyed by fire rather than shredding or pulping, so they are being obliging on that front.
God help us all if they go ahead - there will be consequences.

I don't believe this group should reconsider its proposals because there will be 'consequences'. That's tantamount to conceding to the demands of bullies. They shouldn't burn the Koran because it's a stupidly futile exercise that will achieve nothing. Rather than carrying out ineffective demonstrations designed only to cause conflict, or bending over backwards in a continual effort to placate madmen, I actually think it's time the whole world - and not just the western world - stood up to fundamentalist Islam and started saying 'no'.
Possibly Naomi but burning the Koran is not standing up to fundamentalist Islam is it.
It is, and probably is calculated to, enrage the entire muslim world, liberal muslims too.
It's a provocative by people who want to inflame a war that they feel they are losing and are at risk of pulling out of
As for burning bibles, well hardly anybody would care here for the simple reason that most of the UK is profoundly secular - I can imagine that there would be more than a passing murmur in bible belt America

I expect pastor Jones (or whatever his name is) is rather hopmg that it will provoke a huge outcry from muslims with a corresponding backlash from white middle-class America
Stoking the flames of hatred, keeping the political momentum of fighting in Afghanistan alive.

The Koran is based on the Bible and the Old Testament prophets are also Islamic prophets.
Jesus is the last prophet before Muhammad . Therefore the burning of the Koran is also the burning of the Bible. We Christians , Jews and Muslims are known as people of the book and that Book is the Holy Bible .

What I don't get is why news agency's can't be more responsible and simply not report this story, they do it all the time with other stories. If a couple of hundred retards think burning a book is going to fix anything let them do it and go home. No one outside of that community has any need to know about them or what they are doing.
