Is Britain is going to halal in a wheelbarrow?

Is it not time that these archaic practices, (that are foreign to our Christian country), are banned?
And if certain religious groups cannot eat meat apart from halal, then it should be them that should refrain from eating ours, rather than us having to.eat theirs.
/// Sharia law states that the abattoir involved in the process must be under the ‘close and constant supervision’ of an Islamic religious organisation.///
/// Under these rules, the cut must be made to the right side of the neck by cutting the two carotids, the two jugulars, the windpipe and the gullet, but without breaking the spinal cord.///
/// The carcass must empty of blood and a specific time should be allowed until the animal ceases to move before the next stage of the production process – de-skinning and removing the internal organs – may begin ///

Theirs?
With 1.57 Billion muslims on the planet i think that those that sell meat welcomes this idea as this means they can sell more meat.
I don't see the problem, why not make meat accessible to us and them?

you can't only exclude halal meat from yout diet then AOG, you will have to include Kosher as well which is similarly ritual. Much meat sold (certainly chicken) may already be halal - I needed some for some Muslim visitors and our local butcher hadn't even noticed that his regular supplies come in boxes from Holland with halal on the side - the chicken breasts are no different in taste from other chicken on sale in the supermarkets. You would be hard pressed to know the difference if you are served it - I would fully expect most of the lamb and chicken in any "Indian" restaurant to be from halal suppliers already.
Taste and quality are not the issue, it is the method used to kill the animals that is the concern.
Are you not bothered about the animals suffering, providing that the taste and quality is good?
We should have every right to know that the animal has been slaughtered to our standards, that is why any other method should be banned in this country.
Regarding boxtops reference to the Jewish method of killing, although I did not mention Kosher specifically, I was aware of their practice, that is why I said certain religious groups.

Halal and kosher slaughterhouses are still subject to inspection AOG - and having seen some of the documentaries about animals failing to be stunned before slaughter in conventional slaughterhouses, and the terror shown if they try to escape, I would not be convinced that a quick slash with a knife (having been treated kindly until that point) is not a kinder method of despatch. There are wrongs in every method of animal slaughter - most people have never thought about the way the raw meat reaches their supermarkets and kitchens. I do not defend any particular practice, I don't believe any one way of killing a sentient being for our own ends is better or worse than any other. As mushroom says - if if bothers us, we don't eat meat.
Lets put it this way AOG. Animals have their throaght slit and usually drown on their own blood as sometimes their throaght is slit while they are upside down. Halal way is the same except they are hung upside down and there is some recording of someone praying. I cant see the difference myself.
I am vegetarian myself. Eating meat will be as taboo as canibalism before you know it. I can guarantee you that

It seems the Muslims have already taken over this country without anything being said to stop their practices whether is Sharia Law or killing animals unhumanely to eat.
Compare that said by the Pope and his entourage this week. Britain is like a third world country because it has too many immigrants. Gay marriages are wrong. The banning of a crucifix by the BA employee was unjust.
Why can't we speak out without having the law breathing down our necks for fear of upsetting anyone?

agree AP, for many years the UK has been notionally Christian (since the monarch is still head of the CofE) but it - along with many other countries in the world including most of Europe - is multicultural. There is nobody saying we all have to be Christian and many people are of other faiths or none, and nobody tells most of us - thankfully - what we can or can't eat.
