The bigger part of me says she's just as capable of doing a job as the next person, however I will admit a small part of me would do a double take if I walked into a smart office environment and she was there.
She probably is just as capable but you have to take into account that facial piercings can actually make some people feel quite sick and faint (me for example). So I wouldn't employ her in any position where she would be involved with the public.
I'm sorry, but I think she just looks a mess. In fact I was served in McDonalds by a woman with a lot of tattoos recently, and honestly, it just didn't look right in a food environment. I KNOW that the woman was probably clean, but with a lot of tattoos you somehow just don't look clean.
she looks a bit threatening, as people with visible tattoos and bits of metal sticking out of them sometimes do. Whether I'd hire her would depend on what the job was. Working in accounts, maybe. Behind the counter in Harrods, probably not. And someone who is going to kick up a fuss about 'being humiliated' when someone tells her the truth about her prospects is not someone I'd hire for anything much - who needs an employee who's going to run to the papers every time anyone comments on her (self-chosen) appearance?.
I would not employ her. Maybe I'm prejudiced but women with tattoos are a real turn off. Something a little more discreet I could live with. Body piercing is also a turn off. Pierced ears are acceptable.
I would never employ anybody with visible piercings in the food industry (except for discrete ear piercings) They just look very grubby to me. And as for pierced tongues..................
BOO, knows what I think of tatoos, so I am keeping very quiet! ;o)
Well i currently have 3, and truth be told i'd have more if I could! I'm currently contemplaytng having one put on my hand, but Mr Boo is strangely resistant to it, so im trying to wear him down.
I didn't mean it like that Boo. There was nothing sexual at all in my answer, When I said turn off I meant that I find piercing and tattoos intimidating, as I'm sure a lot of older people do. A bit like hoodies, I'm sure most of them are very nice people, but they can be intimidating.
I really don't understand why young women (and men, come to that) want to deface themselves like this. I sat next to a young man on the train who had what I can only describe as a small dagger stuck through his lower lip. It's not remotely attractive.
It honestly does make me feel faint Boxtops and my knees just go to cottonwool. I can't look at them or talk to them. It's not that I want to be rude to them or dissaprove, I just can't handle it. Why do people want to punch holes all over themselves?
I once told a lad to consider getting his hair cut. he had a ridiculous Flock of Seagulls style thing going on.. but we were having a bit of a laugh, and he took it well :o)
I have to wear smart shoes, trousers and a shirt for work so I look presentable (and the boss still has a go about stubble every few days) and I don't think it's unfair for an employer to want their staff to look presentable.
I would not employ her in any job that she may have to face the public and if she didn't think they would be an issue when she had all the tats and piercing done then more fool her (incidentally, I like tattoos and am not adverse to piercings, but if you want a job in a public facing role then get them done somewhere less noticeable)
