/// Each sitting in both Houses begins with prayers that follow the Christian faith. In the Commons the Speaker's Chaplain usually reads the prayers. In the Lords a senior bishop (Lord Spiritual) who sits in the Lords usually reads the prayers.///

If they don't believe in God, or belong to the Christian faith, where do Ed Milliband and others go to while prayers are being read?

I wonder how a mortal can categorically say there are no lepricauns?

Oh yes I remember now it's because the entire concept is nonsensical isn't it?

All I'll say is "prove otherwise"
What do the Muslims do then, surely there must be one or two in the Houses of Parliament.
If Ed Minibrain is content with his lot then so be it. I don't think he'll make PM anyway he looks a brick short of a lorryload to me.
AOG.. we are all animals even the pope surprisingly.
AoG -Its about time we did away with the whole superstitious nonsense of official religions and official prayers. The idea that, by lip-synching to a few prayers our glorious peoples representatives are imbued with a superior morality and the reassurance that they are honest and honorable is patent nonsense.

Your comment about religion being a force for good over the last few thousand years is open to some serious debate as well - Religion has been- and still is- the cause of much of the worlds misery, death and dispair.

Atheism is not generally a categorical rejection of God, although some atheists may adopt that position - rather, it is the entirely reasonable and rational position of a lack of faith, in the absence of any credible, substantive evidence, in some sort of supernatural entity or creator.

After all, a sensible person like you doesnt have faith in unicorns or fairies at the bottom of the garden do you? You don't automatically believe everything an MP says merely because he is a self-professed christian do you?
//religion ......it is what separates us from the animals//

It is? How does that work then?
I could never understand how Denis Skinner could be an MP..........until recently he was a member of Her Majesty's government yet refuses to acknowldege the monarchy.
i thought that too craft, I don't know if he ever got to meet the Queen. Cherie Blair is the same I don't think she cared much for the monarchy, I detest that woman.

The whole issue of atheist MPs was sorted out waay back in the 1880s, if I remember right. There have been plenty around since.
