No doubt Firefighters with strike placards (and the obligatory fire burning in an old oil drum) outside fire stations will be acknowledged by passing motorists who are showing their support

Wonder how eager to show support for them the general public would be if their house was on fire?

Actually, I agree that we (emergency services) should not have a right to strike.
I can catagorically state that I would never go on strike, and no amount of rhetoric or abuse would stop me from being a 'scab'

Should the LFB go on strike.....not a fluffing chance. Trumpton are a good bunch, and handy when you need them, but they are paid well and most do have second jobs.

When you compare the rates of pay to the ratio of work, then you see that actually it is a very cushy number. Fire-fighting was best summed up by a Royal Navy officer during the last set of strikes. At the end of a training session that lasted for hours on the correct method of tackling fires given by a regular fireman, he put his hand up and asked "So essentially, it's taken you 3 hours to say keep squirting water until the fire goes out."

I know some good lads in the FB, but have heard some crackers from them including two of them chatting about how having to turn out to a major RTC would mess up their sleep for 'work' tomorrow.

Honestly, bleating about a shift system that brings them into line with the rest of the real world? My heart bleeds purple p1ss!!!!

Lots of firefighters do have other jobs,my neighbour has just had her house redecorated over five days, a really profesional job, by another neighbour fireman coming off his night shift, they dont have to stay awake all night.
