don't the Police have machine guns?
They would be handy. Bring back rubber bullets...!!!
Don't know about rubber bullets, the firemen are not on strike, bring out the water cannon.
Good job they didn't attempt to get into the nearby MI5 building....it wouldn't be rubber bullets then.....

The Labour Party decamped from Millbank Tower in 2001 - the £1m p.a. rent was too much of a drain on party funds.

The Conservative Party moved into another section of Millbank in 2006.
why not? tory bar stewards...people moaned about the labour government, but i reckon the present regime (and i do mean that in the literal sense) are hell bent on destroying any resemblance of working class britain. we are all gonna pay...big time! x
If they hadn't dumbed down A levels to a point that almost anyone can get into a University
half of those students wouldn't be there.
The very essence of a university education, lcg, is to escape the rigours that go with being “working class”. The term working class is anyway a misnomer as it is usually used by those who have no intention of working to describe themselves.

Moving on, of course, if those so-called “working class” were not so prevalent there might be a few bob more in the kitty to fund a decent higher education (although as has been suggested by modeller, this should be for a much reduced audience).

All in all, the students involved in today’s outrageous activities should concentrate their efforts on the education they so jealously value (allegedly).
Maybe they are studying for a BSc. in Missile Projection and needed a practical.

Brother was in London this morning for work and had to laugh when he was telling me about all the students sitting in Starbucks looking at maps on their iPhones working out how to get there.
I love that buildersmate, perhaps there was an NVQ assessor in there somewhere too, checking out the customer service attitude.
Ancient joke, dating back to my student days in the early 70s. in the toilet.

Scrawled on the enamel of the toilet roll holder was, "Sociology degrees here, please help yourself. Only one sheet at a time, don't be greedy".
I agree modeller, it's long time since I attended school but I think education is not what it was. One young man who worked in my office couldn't even address an envelope properly, expensive education wasted there methinks.

Where were the water cannon, the police were standing around like spare parts
