My good wife of 28 years and i had our reception in the local pub.It cost £250.A lot of the guests said it was the best wedding they had been to.
Thankfully living in NZ we will sleep through the whole thing !
oranger-"A lot of the guests said it was the best wedding they had been to. ", not going to say it was rubbish are they? Not that it was of course (I had a wonderful time!) but still, i fail to see what that has to do with anything?
I can just about bear the 9 months or so building up to the wedding. What I can't stand is the brown-nosing of the the royal correspondents on every news prog you watch. They're just a bunch of lick-spittle's.
What a load of empty, insincere clap trap being spouted by the likes of Cameron, the Royal Press Office, etc!

"The couple are going to be acutely aware of the current economic situation" - RUBBISH!

One thing I don't "get" is..........why do we, the tax payers have to pay for the wedding? The Royal Family are worth millions (maybe even billions?) and the Middleton's aren't short of a bob or two, so why don't THEY pay for it?!

Someone on the radio yesterday said that "it's only going to cost each of us about 4 pence, so what's the problem?". The problem is that the total amount of all those 4ps SHOULD be put to better use, such as healthcare, education plus 1001 other causes!

The Royal Family are (in their own way) SPONGING! And I don't hold with the Royalists view that "they bring money into the country thru tourism"! I'm pretty sure that visitors would still come to visit the likes of Buckingham Palace or Windsor Castle even if the Royal Family no longer existed!

And don't get me started on us taxpayers having to pay for the fire damage repairs to Windsor Castle!
