It is easier for the police to attack the minority than the majority, it also saves them upsetting Muslims, hell they don't want them taking to the streets.
/// Right wing groups like the English Defence League are turning parts of Britain into recruiting grounds for Islamic extremists, police have said.///
Why do they think these right wing groups are setting up?
It is because they feel they are the only ones prepared to oppose the Islamic extremists.
These recruiting grounds for Islamic extremists will continue to grow, they have nothing to do with right wing groups.
Are the EDL or BNP responsible for the recruiting grounds in Pakistan?

So AOG so you think you know better than a long established police intelligence unit?
Isn't about time you thought before you posted.
As for Ian Fielding is he an alias of yours
"Yes, I understand where you are coming from 'oldgit.
I think you have a valid point there" Why does he have a valid point.

Rather giving the lie to AOG's contention that the police are descriminating unfairly against the EDL is the third paragraph
//Two Muslim protesters have been arrested for public order offences.//
Didn't read it?
Ignored it because it didn't fit the "we don't want to upset the muslims" angle?
Note though that they do not seem to have been the ones charged with assaulting the police!
