Wow they are improving. This is on top of apologising to Galileo after 400 years and accepting Darwin was right after 150 years. Eventually they might even admit that marriage is not an essential part of a loving relationship.
I think the church has realised they would become a complete anachronism if they didn't start to accept the realities staring them in the face.

By acknowledging that the spread of HIV/AIDs could be eased by the use of condoms he has also acknowledged homosexuality. Of course this is an 'exceptional circumstance'. He still won't allow the poor men and women (usually in the third world and afraid of eternal damnation) from having a few more children they cannot afford.
