In view of their past record were the police right to allow these thugs to march?
Take a look at the second picture, do we want such scenes on our streets, and are their actions any different from those of the militant Muslims?

When these supporters of Al Qaeda (I won't call them Muslims because I don't recognise them as such) burn an effigy of a politician, then they really mean it. They are inciting violence against that politician for sure. Such people should be arrested.
I don't believe the students are calling for people to kill Clegg, but their actions are inappropriate and stupid. If I was being kind I would call them naive, but they don't inspire kindness in me I'm afraid. Such effigies should not be tolerated by the police, although I wouldn't go as far as arresting the students. A ticking off and a warning should be enough.
The march should be allowed to go ahead but any violence, threats or damages should be dealt with severely. The vast majority of marching students will not be involved in any thuggery.
I don't equate the behaviour of students - even at its very worse - with that of Al Qaeda supporters, who incidentally shouldn't be walking the streets after burning poppies. They are basically spitting on the graves of millions who died in the World Wars and sacrificed their lives so we can have such protests. Those Al Qaeda thugs make me sick to the pit of my stomach

regardless of any differences in opinion we might have, I always assume that you are a decent, civilised elderly gentleman. I know assumptions are dangerous but there you are.
On that basis, I am confident in predicting that you would much prefer to sit down for tea and biscuits with a selection of these young people who, in most instances will be charming, intelligent and responsible; rather than the over-grown skinheads and educationally sub-normal knuckle-dragging thugs always pictured at EDL demos.

The scenes a Millbank were a disgrace. The tuition fees cause was hijacked by anarchists, and a few dimwit students joined in.
But Peaceful protests and demonstrating your disapproval are part of our democratic process. Remove that right, and more offensive forms of protest are the only avenue.

The hard job for the police, is to sort the genuine students with a real grievance, from the anarchist rent-a-mob who will jump onto any cause.

Well you must know my feelings for the Al Qaeda, I hardly support them, but why you difference them from Muslims I do not know, they are still ardent British born traitorous Muslims.
Regarding the burning of effigies to the staging of a lynching is any difference, I consider them both provocative acts and the perpetrators should be arrested and prosecuted, never mind the slapped wrist, (although in this day and age, slapping someone's wrist is almost a capital offence).
There is no place for violence on our streets, especially when conducted by the so called educated of the land, or are these also capable of 'dragging their knuckles along the ground'?.
