I have just come across this report.

Why is it that The Guardian seems to be the only newspaper reporting on it, is there some form of media blackout on it?

/// "Local neighbourhood police officers are meeting with members of the community to keep them informed and to address their concerns and obvious anger about this criminal incident." ///

Sad thing for anything like this to happen, and I don't condone the actions of these arsonists in any way, but what does annoy me is the fact that the Muslim community get to receive a better service from our police force, than white communities do.

BOO... No ... only about 25,000 each year in the UK
Seriously AOG, one example of a much wider point. The police, in certain areas, is institutionally racist. The opposite to your example above. Please address the point rather than nit-picking.

And to call any like the two you quote hyped up is disgraceful.

/// It's almost impossible to have a single group representing (say) white Britons because the term is so diverse.///

Oh I thought there would be some reason why we can't have a group to represent us.

And here was me thinking we could have a white solicitor's group or a white policeman's group, a white group against racism, etc etc etc etc etc...

Ah! well we can at least dream.
Opps - that should say....

^^And to call any CRIME like the two you quote hyped up is disgraceful.
<<Oh I thought there would be some reason why we can't have a group to represent us. >>

what would be the purpose of such a group? I mean really, a sensible intelligent purpose.

The purpose of say, a 'Black and Asian Police Officers' Group is that, as anyone with any sense realises, any other gathering of Police Officers is predominantly a 'White Police Officers' Group.

(sigh)
.
Maybe what we need in Britain is a Wikileaks type figure to spill out what is happening to so called multicultural Britain? It wouldn't make good reading!

sqad- really? 25,000 toddlers go missing in the UK a year?
No B00. Sqad and I have had this conversation before and that statement misrepresents the facts. The number refers to young people - not specifically to toddlers.
I gathered that Naomi, and I know that this has nothing to do with the OP (though to be fair AOG raised the topic first), but I was trying to get across that a missing 3 year old child is hardly a "hyped up" case. Luckily, toddlers going missing is VERY uncommon and not anything like 25,000 like sqad claimed.
I agree.
"Oh I thought there would be some reason why we can't have a group to represent us"

Have you ever considered that the reason such groups don't exist is because there's not earthly reason for them to exist?

This is why your argument makes little sense:

You know there's the Royal National Institute for the Blind? Well why can't we have a national institute for sighted people?

And Age Concern...how comes we can't have a Middle-aged Concern?

These groups do not exist, because there's no point to them whatsoever.
"The Stephen Lawrence case as a racist crime is what the Madeleine McCann case is to missing children.

Both very tragic in their own way, but hyped up considerably against all the other hundreds of similar cases."

Are you really trying to say that there are hundreds of racist murders and child abductions each year?

Or was that a case of mis-phrasing?
Some years ago, Police Forces were instructed by the Home Office to automatically treat any crimes against ethic groups as "racially motivated", hence why this crime is being treated as such.

It doesn't necessarily mean that that was the real reason for the crime although most people are influenced by what they see and read in the media subsequently.

It will be interesting to find out what happens. Proving the offence for which they've been arrested will not be easy.

/// Have you ever considered that the reason such groups don't exist is because there's not earthly reason for them to exist?///

Just because a black person says there is no earthly reason for a group being formed to represent white people, doesn't make it unnecessary.

As a white person I might as well say there is no reason for special groups to protect black issues.

In fact just because a person has a different skin colour, why do they need special facilities?

The way things are going whites will soon be in the minority in this country so we will need special groups to represent us.then.

/// Are you really trying to say that there are hundreds of racist murders and child abductions each year? ///

As regards child abductions, yes

/// There were 846 abductions and attempted abductions reported in 2002-3, up from 584 in the previous 12 months. Of the 59 successful abductions, 54 per cent were girls and 74 per cent were white.///

Regarding racial murders the figure is much less between 1995 and 2004 there was 58 almost half of these the victims where white.

/// Senior police officers have admitted that 'political correctness' and the fear of discussing the issue have meant that race crime against white people goes under-reported. One chief constable has claimed that white, working-class men are more alienated than the Muslim community.///

This was not something I plucked from the Daily Mail, but the Guardian no less.

Well i'm white and you still haven't explained to me old git what would be the purpose of such a group?

Can't you think of one? Because it's a stupid idea?

The purpose of say, a 'Black and Asian Police Officers' Group is that, as anyone with any sense realises, any other gathering of Police Officers is predominantly a 'White Police Officers' Group.
.
I think the old git is ignoring me.... clearly doesn't like the point I'm making.....
He does that Lou_Lou
Sorry but could you explain "The police, in certain areas, is institutionally racist". ??
