The crimes these days get more and more gruesome and savage.

When I first head on the radio the report of this killing, I did not realise how horrific it really was, I just said to my wife, "at a time when most little children are dreaming about what Santa is bringing them, here is a little girl who is being stabbed to death by her own mother, that little girl will not see this Christmas or any other".

Before anyone leaps in to say that she hasn't yet been found guilty of killing her young daughter, I say yes I agree, but believe the evidence is damning.

To get back to the question, then the answer is it has already been an awful lot worse than this - not just once but many times over and not just in long gone times. To take but one example, does the name Jonestown mean anything to the assembled contributors ?
