Why are these women so keen to convert to the Muslim faith?

Will these converts be happy to become almost subservient to their husbands, or will they set an example to Muslim women of how they are being oppressed?

If you type the womans popsition in the islamic faith it is alot different to how muslim woman are actually painted. I think its a lot more to do with culture rather that religion as many men think the woman should follow strictly but it is ok for them to follow them as relaxed as possible. This is only my experience of it mind

I know a white British girl who has converted to Islam. She is well educated, happy and finds Islam provides a faith that suits her. Although not an outspoken person she quietly rejects the immodesty and behavior of many of her work colleagues and formers friends. She has a boy friend and has already been welcomed as a future member of his Muslim family.

Lauren Booth was on the radio today discussing her treansformation to the Islam faith. She said it was a peaceful religion and did not force you to change to Islam as it was a free religion without any threats.

She said Muslims tend to use the religion for their own views and were no part of peaceful Islam and were really offshoots with a violent streak.

She was asked what happens to a Islam women who decides to leave the faith, which turns out to be a death warrant but she has shut her ears to that. I think that being connected to Cherie Blair says it all.

All the best to her, but I hope she realises if she marries him, it's will be for life, not a bad thing really, but just like being a nun she will be forced into a strict behavioural way of life, with no turning back.

There will be many reasons, not least to please their muslim male partners, who usually place much more importance on their women's religious affiliation than do men of other religious backgrounds. The motivation by the males is anything from habit/tradition (a result of the accident of birth) to earning brownie points with the almighty for converting someone. As some men and women find great comfort in spending their working lives in the military because of the "safety" it provides through everything regarding their lives being decided for them (where to live, what to do, just say yes sir), so it is likely some women find comfort in once and for all "solving" all questions/decisions by accepting a fixed lifetime regime. This is sometimes referred to as a preference for all-embracing institutions (as prisoners and mental patients come to rely on their routines). The bottom line is that it is their choice and they should be free to make it.
