How do you explain this to a child who asks who his father is? A DNA test will confirm it true, but a young curious child will not understand this.

i don't think at 48 david furnish is exactly 'elderly', many women these days are chosing to leave it pretty late to have a child and i would imagine some of their husbands/partners are of a similar age.
i like these two people and can't see the problem with them chosing to have a child. at least they chose to have one, rather than it being an 'accident' in the way many children are.

Never really had that desire BOO. Glad I have got a child but never particularly had a desire for one.

BOO. Elton is 60+ and Furnish is 59. They would be too old to adopt and probably the same re fostering. I do not think that children are a god given right and I honestly believe that at least one parent should be of child bearing age.

I have no problems with gay marriages or children in gay marriages generally. Just find sperm donation by two Dads weird.

Sqad is right, whether or not two males should get marriage or have children wasn't the question. It was about both fathers producing sperm and initially not knowing who the father is. Children start to ask questions at a pretty young age.

I have nothing against gay marriage or gay people raising kids whatsoever.

(I must admit to really disliking Elton John though - I hate drama Queens!)

I thought David Furnish was 48. Elton John has had a lot of problems in the past with drugs and having to deny his sexuality so maybe it`s only now that he feels he has arrived at a stage in his life where he can offer a lot to a child. The mixing of sperm seems to be a regular occurence with surrogacy. I think that rich gay couple in Essex who famously had babies a few years ago did that. I suppose they`ll just say they`re both the dad. At least the kid`ll have a 50% chance of knowing which is more than some kids have these days.

Right, now here's the opinion you've all been waiting for, here goes:

You must remember the following facts in depth, as I have, before attempting to answer objectively, as I am about to do: "Hurrumphhhh....."

1: S'rElton's now 63, so by the time this young whippersnapper has grown to full manly maturity, S'rElton'll possibly be pushing up the daisies in his pink coffin.

2: Not sure how old S'rElton's husband/wife Furnish is, but he may, or may not dependant on health etc, be brown bread too?

3: The fact that the little fella's being raised by 24/7 teams of nannies/maids/nurses/cleaners/minders/gardene

etc in an adjoining house should also ensure that the little soul will have absolutely no concept of what a so called "normal upbringing" would have been, anyway? Or who may or may not have been his parents, male or female? Nailed on OTT confusion case if ever I saw one.

4: S'rElton was married to a woman for several years. Why has it taken so long for this overpowering paternal urge to surface? Mmmmhhhhhh...I couldn't possibly hazard a guess............could you?

lottie i really like his music, i think he's a genius. saw him live at leeds uni many, many, many years ago when he still had his own hair and i was still thin!!
if it comes on again, watch piers morgans show with elton on, it might give you a different perspective on him, i thought he came across as very down to earth and honest, he doesn't pull his punches. he fully accepted that he had, in the past, been a bit of a diva and drama queen.
